Since the rise of LLMs, I’ve been convinced that we could create assistants that deeply understand you and actually help you.
For me, the first step toward that vision was unlocking deep-level understanding of your library with Ask Photos in Google Photos. But enabling Gemini to apply that same deep context across all your products was always the natural next step.
Working on Personal Intelligence has been a journey alongside some of the smartest people I know—from @timsohn to the incredible teams across DeepMind, Photos, Gmail, Search, etc. And it's been a privilege to see firsthand the leadership and product craft of @joshwoodward.
I’m so glad we can finally share the very first step of our vision of what a personal assistant can be! It’s just the beginning and things will only get better from here!
Introducing Personal Intelligence. It's our answer to a top request: you can now personalize @GeminiApp by connecting your Google apps with a single tap. Launching as a beta in the U.S. for Pro/Ultra members, this marks our next step toward making Gemini more personal, proactive and powerful. Check it out!

Today we are rolling out Gemini 4 Argon globally in the Gemini API, to Pro + Ultra in Gemini App, and Ultra subs in Antigravity!
Argon is a huge step forward for Gemini, and a labor of love. This model has been battle tested by over 100,000 people at Google over the last month, with so much new innovation, ambition, and hard work baked into this release. The team has been heads down over the last 6 months working to make this possible across the stack (research, infra, safety, eng, etc).
We rolled the model out to cyber defenders as part of our fairwind program and early access customers over the last 2 weeks, it has been amazing to see and talk to folks who are now using this model daily. Seeing the models writing capability, raw knowledge and persistence for coding, paired with new features like 1M token output when the model needs to work more has gotten me even more excited about our path ahead.
This is just the start of the Gemini 4 era. As you saw with 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8 Flash, our iteration speed with Gemini is fast : ) Now with Gemini 4 Argon to work from, I am cannot wait to see the progress continue, and most importantly see what this new model enables for the world.
This is such a special moment in the arc of technology, as millions of people everyday tackle problems they could never have thought possible before. Gemini 4 Argon was built to help you tackle the hardest problems. I have personally felt this spark with Argon and hope you do too. Onwards!!

🚀One billion for Gemini! Our goal remains to make it the most personal, proactive, and powerful assistant. Here’s what we’re learning from the first billion, and what’s coming next…
1B+ people are now using @Geminiapp every month to spark new ideas and get things done. It’s our fastest growing product ever, and our 14th to hit the 1B-user mark.
Kudos to @JoshWoodward & the entire Gemini team, and thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with us - much more to come!
What the recent events are showing me is that many people do not know what they are talking about. I shouldn't be surprised because it's always been like that but because this time it's connected to a change that's deeply affecting me, it's been a bit more painful to read the litany of bad hot takes. Heh, it is what it is, we keep building!

Maybe tell your buddy to do some actual work and to stop spreading absolute nonsense. This post is completely false and just pure clickbait.

Tip: Figure out your personal ceiling for running multiple agents in parallel.
We need to accept that more agents running doesn't mean more of _you_ available. The narrative is still mostly about throughput and parallelism, but almost nobody's talking about what it actually costs the human in the loop.
You're holding multiple problem contexts in your head at once, making judgment calls continuously, and absorbing the anxiety of not knowing what any one agent might be quietly getting wrong.
That's a new kind of cognitive labor we don't have good language for yet.
I've started treating long agentic sessions the way I'd treat deep focus work: time-boxed and tighter scopes per agent dramatically change how much mental overhead each thread carries.
Finding your personal ceiling with these tools is itself a skill and most of us are going to learn it the hard way before we learn it intentionally.
Gemini just saved me.
Boarding tonight to visit our team in Sydney for the week and as I was figuring out what to bring, Gemini reminded me of the needed Visa application! 15 minutes of panicking later (and thanks to an awesome Australian Visa process), I have my Visa for tonight.
Pfew.
when I started building Ask Photos a bit more than 2 years ago, the idea was that my Photos library was the the closest to an external visual memory of my life
it both feels surreal and normal to now be able to use @GeminiApp and Personal Intelligence powered by @googlephotos
Fascinating to see my timeline full of @openclaw excitement but not sure why people have the urge to buy a Mac Mini…
And now we bring Personal Intelligence to Search in AIMode. It's been particularly useful for trip research where it can tailor some finding based on photos from my previous trips!
(1/2) Personal Intelligence just landed in AI Mode – unlocking a Google Search experience that really *gets* you. Starting with subscribers, if you opt in to connecting Search to apps like Gmail and Google Photos, you can get responses that are uniquely helpful and tailored to you.
I’ve been testing this out a ton and I’m genuinely impressed at how intuitive it’s been. AI Mode is not just searching, it’s helping connect the dots across my interests and preferences. For eg: it found family activities that slot perfectly into my travel plans – and even uncovered items that match my specific style... (like nailing it with recommending new shoes! 👟)
A must read. The best engineers I've been lucky to work with combine a deep knowledge (often built out of implementing and debugging things) and an intuitive/methodical approach to start from the top of the stack.
Performance Hints
Over the years, my colleague Sanjay Ghemawat and I have done a fair bit of diving into performance tuning of various pieces of code. We wrote an internal Performance Hints document a couple of years ago as a way of identifying some general principles and we've recently published a version of it externally.
We'd love any feedback you might have!

I was pretty sick for the past 4 days and during that time I wondered if it was the sickness or whether I was also looking for an end of year break. But the will to get back to work on some key internal projects came back the moment I started feeling better!
This day 3 years ago reshaped my career in a way that I could never have predicted. Happy Birthday ChatGPT!

Reading this interaction is really incredible and makes you pause for a bit...

My most amusing interaction was where the model (I think I was given some earlier version with a stale system prompt) refused to believe me that it is 2025 and kept inventing reasons why I must be trying to trick it or playing some elaborate joke on it. I kept giving it images and articles from "the future" and it kept insisting it was all fake. It accused me of using generative AI to defeat its challenges and argued why real wikipedia entries were actually generated and what the "dead giveaways" are. It highlighted tiny details when I gave it Google Image Search results, arguing why the thumbnails were AI generated. I then realized later that I forgot to turn on the "Google Search" tool. Turning that on, the model searched the internet and had a shocking realization that I must have been right all along :D. It's in these unintended moments where you are clearly off the hiking trails and somewhere in the generalization jungle that you can best get a sense of model smell.
