Had the pleasure of photographing @GovInslee while he rode from Port Angeles to Blyn yesterday.
If you’re looking for bike ride ideas this weekend, check out the Olympic Discovery Trail. I joined a ride yesterday starting in Port Angeles and we covered 26.5 miles of breathtaking views and ended at Jamestown S’Klallam Red Cedar Hall in Sequim. (1/3)

Yesterday, I caught up with speed demon Ian Mackay at Port Angeles Pump Track to learn more about this unique track. With a rolling series of ADA accessible looping paths, Ian tells us why he enjoys the park and how inclusive parks like this one are valuable to the community.

the most toxic idea journalism profs instill into students is to never expect to make good money in journalism. it's not only untrue but teaches young journos to accept exploitation w/o bothering to self-advocate or unionize

But how can we expect a reporter to write about homelessness and affordable housing if the reporter can actually afford housing AND to pay their bills? I know my best work was when I was worried about paying the rent.
Median monthly rent for apartment in Vancouver, Wash.: $1,700. Annual salary for a new "Homelessness and Affordable Housing Reporter" at local newspaper: $37,440. Preferred qualifications: • Bachelor's degree • 2+ years experience • Proven digital skills h/t @billlascher

This thread is well worth the read...
I just got a file I requested from the King County Archives months ago about a report delivered to the King County Board of Commissioners about the "acute" problem of homelessness. The year was 1937.

This Tuesday at 8pm, a world record attempt. Furthest distance in 24 hours in a power wheelchair driven by mouth! Battery mods are done. Training miles are logged. We’re ready for NASCAR style pitstops and the usual three ring circus. Sauvie Island. #GetOutside #ThisIsMyBike

That public records may be embarrassing to public officials is an argument *in favor* of disclosure, not against it. There is no exemption in the Texas Public Information Act for "sorry, but this would make us look bad."

We need to make sure that folks in our region have access to the emergency services they need, when they need them. That's why I'm pushing for new federal funding to build out a new resilient, co-located Emergency Operations Center for Clallam County and the City of Port Angeles.
