I saw this response to a previous post, and I couldn't agree more. I always wonder, honestly, what a client who brings me on for 1-2 SEO articles actually wants to get out of it, because it doesn't work that way. I just wrapped up my longest-running project, and it lasted for just shy of four years with about 300 articles published. Needless to say, that company has deep pockets, and they understand it takes a lot of time and effort to rank. So yes, social media allows for great connection and an awesome lead-in to our websites and services without spending a fortune and a million years building content to get there.

I don't mean to brag, but I was backing up my utility trailer just now and hit the wheel chock dead center on the first try. I'm basically a commercial driver at this point.

SEO is literally 1,000% more effective than social media content. SEO is also a MUCH tougher nut to crack. According to Ahrefs (May 2025), only 1.74% of new pages reached Google's top 10 within a year. Even with excellent keyword research and a well-structured article, nailing keywords in the title and the headings, it is a slog getting content to rank. But...this is the way to limitless access to your target audience. Social media is the easy button, and it is relatively easy. But easy isn't necessarily good or productive; it's just easy. Pay for the SEO content. It takes time, it takes effort, and it gives you access to the people who need your services OR products. This applies to all industries, and I specialize in aviation and aerospace. Interested? Is your AI slop not really helping your cause? DMs are open, let's talk.

The other five percent on here have so much more experience than me that it’s laughable. I know who they are, I listen when they talk.
I have way more aviation experience than about ~95% of the people on this app. My take? I'm not saying anything. Don't listen to the audio. Hug your wife and kids. Thank God you woke up today. Pet your dog and go for a walk or something.

I had a hard enough time being a decent pilot and a half decent parent. Here on @X we have people who themselves are expert pilots, international diplomacy experts, political campaign experts, policy experts, financial experts, fitness experts, peptide experts, and parenting experts all at the same time. Thank goodness you guys are experts at everything. No idea where we would be without you.

Day 2 Faith + family > everything else. It sounds like hyperbole, but it isn't. I really believe this. My faith in Yah keeps me rooted in the truth, and my wife anchors me. She also believes in me and gives me confidence when I don't have it. If she hadn't pushed me constantly for YEARS, I would still be commuting 3 1/2 soul-crushing hours a day to my dead-end (albeit fun and enjoyable) job at Fort Leavenworth. Thank you, Kelli McCoy, for always believing in me and having my back. And thank you to the Messiah Yeshua, who saved me and mine by grace we never, ever deserved and can never pay back.

Day 1 I saw a really cool concept on here a couple of days ago. I only caught his 363rd post, but a guy wrote here every day for a year, and that is a great way to get to know someone. It's important to see the person behind the account, the person behind the skill set. People like working with likable people; organizations are made up of humans. So...where to begin? I am a family man first, so I will never slave for the corporate grind. I will gladly move away from the 20-acre wood and live in our RV on an $8k plot of land in rural Colorado before grinding my soul away (not that I've given it a lot of thought or anything 🤣). My wife and I have six awesome kids that we homeschool; we travel as much as we can; we dabble in homesteading. It's a good life, and I won't have it any other way. Also, I better set a reminder to write this out every day or else it'll just end on day six or something!

Just a friendly reminder for all of you business owner-types who want to drive traffic on social media: SEO drives 1,000% MORE TRAFFIC than organic social media. However, we are often drawn to social media because it is easy to track clicks, analytics, etc., from the social media dashboard. Clicks are good, right? 96.55% of all indexed pages get zero love (i.e., search traffic) from Google. I have seen this play out for most of my clients. They drive good traffic overall, but under the microscope, a small handful of pages do all the heavy lifting. So, organic search is absolutely still the way forward, and if I am being honest, it is a grind. It costs a lot. It takes a long time. It isn't easy. But when it hits, it hits hard and pays dividends for years (more on that in a little bit). If you need a ghostwriter, I can do that. But let me tell you, for future gains, invest in your web content. It matters that much.

I've never thirsted for nog harder than right now.
Hot take that really shouldn’t be a hot take: eggnog is absolutely disgusting.   It’s made of raw eggs, milk, and loaded with saturated fat. Gross.

Looking for the right voice for your aviation brand? Do you understand that taking a Chatbot and asking it to sound like you...sounds like everyone else doing the same thing? I found out that my recently deceased uncle used to mule bales of marijuana from Mexico to Oklahoma. I also found out that his deceased sister used to lift prescription pills from my grandfather's clinic while she was a nurse. The 70s was a wild time, man.

A few industries are where you simply shouldn't rely on a generalist, and aviation is probably at the top of the list. If you had an annual due, would you call a local handyman? Of course not. That's not an indictment of the handyman, but he isn't qualified to conduct an annual on a private jet. Well, why would you hire a generic media firm to write your web copy, emails, landing pages, and other copy for your aviation company? You really shouldn't. It's nothing personal, but they lack practical industry understanding and real-world experience. A first-person anecdote is compelling, and a writer with no knowledge of flight or aviation can't do that. Think about who you hire before you hire them; content creation is more than just clicks and analytics.

People like to work with people they like. I'm not saying this is more important than your skills, but I've outlasted people more skilled than me my whole life.

I ask every person I talk to two questions: What are you building, and why? That is why I reach out to people for a call; I genuinely want to see what is happening in the industry I’ve been part of my whole adult life. There are a lot of great minds in this industry doing really cool things like leveraging emerging technologies (not just AI) and rethinking the old ways. The more I dig in, the more I realize some things may never change, but others are well on their way. The aviation industry is huge, so you can't really keep tabs on everything. But I have also found that the builders and makers in this industry are warm, friendly, and happy to talk about what they are doing. If you are a builder, founder, or owner of a small business in aviation or aero, I'd love to talk. I am particularly focused on bizav, AOGs, MROs, FBOs, airport & airspace, and aftermarket parts. No shade on GA; it’s just not my focus, but if you are building something cool for the GA community, hit me up! DMs are open; let’s talk.
