Perspective Check: Your old self died and your new self is united with Jesus.
You may have heard: “I need to get out of the way & let Jesus be 100% in my life — I must be 0%. It says that right in the Bible:
He must increase & I must decrease.” John 3:30
Sounds spiritual…but it’s wrong teaching —
John 3:30 was taken out of context.
————————————————————————
The TRUTH:
~ The context of John 3:30 is that John the Baptist previously was preparing the way for Jesus; but now that Jesus was here, His ministry was going to increase & John the Baptist’s ministry was going to decrease.
~ It wasn’t meant to be a 1 verse doctrinal statement on how to live the Christian life.
~ When you opened the door to let Jesus into your heart, your new spirit became completely UNITED with His Spirit — you’re a brand new spiritual being.
~ There is absolutely no way to know where He begins and you end — you’re UNITED.
~ Now it’s ALL of Jesus + ALL of you ——> you’re not an obstacle — you’re both on the same team.
~ God PERFECTLY DESIGNED YOU to be filled with Jesus — He would express God through your innermost being & personality.
~ YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO BE PART OF THE PROGRAM - 100% you & 100% Jesus in complete Union doing the Father’s Will.

Summary:

* God gave you a brand new heart & spirit; filled you with the Holy Spirit & His desires; & UNITED you completely with Jesus.
* You are PERFECTLY DESIGNED to express God through your innermost being & personality, UNITED with Jesus.
* So RELAX, BE YOURSELF & watch what UNION with Jesus will look like in your life!

Sometimes, in the midst of our trials and difficulties, we cannot see the blessings God is bringing into our lives. But when we look back, we begin to see how the Lord was working through every circumstance—not only in our own lives, but also in the lives of those we have touched along the way.
Even in our hardest seasons, God is at work in ways we may not yet understand.
Heavenly Father, help me to trust You through every trial, even when I cannot see Your hand at work. Remind me that Your blessings are not always visible in the moment, but in time, I may look back and see how You were working in my life and the lives of others through me. Thank You for never wasting our struggles.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” — Romans 8:28 KJV
