New Signum-Node Release 3.8.1! 📢📢
The focus of this release was to optimise the sync speed for the Signum blockchain. One hot topic was the SmartContract database access and how to handle it. Finally, we introduced an incremental cache handling, which reduced the process time by over 90%.
Also, we finally added Postgresand Sqliteas supported databases to this new release. The last one may replace the current H2 setup soon.
Main improvements:
📌Sqlite Support
📌H2 related issues (#789, #791, #797) should be "resolved" when using Sqlite database
📌Improved Smart Contract (AT) Processing performance, i.e. better blocks/sec time while syncing
📌Improved performance on Indirect Incoming Queries
📌Changed batched inserts to true multi-row bulk inserts for account_balances and indirect_incoming
📌Postgres syncing error (#780)

I resynced >1.2M blocks in 6.25 hours, i.e. an avg of 54 blocks/second. This is actually a massive improvement...maybe it's possible to squeeze out more

In preparation for the upcoming H2 upgrade, we reviewed the current performance of node 3.7.2.
Since the introduction of staking and liquidity pools, we saw some slowdown of block sync - worst case, down to 0.1 blocks per second.
We performed some write and read tests with the current MariaDB and H2. We boosted the speed by 100x to 200x times by setting the correct indices and handling indirect_incoming slightly differently.
Finally, we synced from 0 to now in less than 10 hours on MariaDB, which took days.
If you want a faster SignumNode, just install it now - no breaking changes are included in this release.

Quick explainer: @signum_official #blockchain can store updateable arbitrary data in user owned containers called "Alias". I use it to store (beside other things) the #nostr npub. Aliases can be searched easily by their unique names, i.e. ohager. Now, combine both e violá 🚀
