An alleged pipeline of U.S.-purchased rifles and ammunition to the Sinaloa Cartel is now at the center of a 13-count federal indictment in Texas—including a charge of conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.
Federal prosecutors say Loyd Walter Hall, also known as “Jamie Hall” and “James William,” coordinated to supply the cartel with firearms, ammunition and equipment. The charges also describe a drug-trafficking conspiracy involving fentanyl, heroin and cocaine intended for the United States.
Authorities allege straw buyers were recruited to purchase weapons for others—lying on federal forms to conceal the actual buyers and help move firearms into criminal hands.
The superseding indictment adds a fifth defendant: Johnnie Wayne Corbett, 42, of Amarillo, who was arrested Oct. 17. Hall, Jesus Quezada Meza, Omar Velasquez and Catlynn Ann Townsend were initially indicted in June.
Hall, Meza, Velasquez and Corbett are in federal custody. Townsend has been issued a summons.
Hall faces up to life in prison if convicted. The other defendants face maximum sentences ranging from five to 15 years.
The case stems from a Homeland Security Task Force investigation led by ATF Dallas, with assistance from HSI Dallas and local partners. The charges are allegations; all five defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

ICE STANDS READY TO DEPORT CHARLOTTE LIGHT RAIL STABBER
Oscar Gerardo Solorzano-Garcia, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras with a lengthy arrest record, was charged with attempted first-degree murder after stabbing a man aboard a Charlotte light rail train.
ICE lodged an immigration detainer requesting that local authorities transfer him to ICE custody rather than release him back onto North Carolina streets.
North Carolinians deserve SAFE streets, and ICE is committed to keeping dangerous criminals OFF our streets and OUT of our country.

The APA public safety forum was a huge success. We heard answers from both Gubernatorial candidate Biggs as well as Governor Hobbs on topics from Border Security, pension reform, and Automated License Plate Reader technology. Thank you to all the sponsors and all who attended. You can find the recording in the comments.

Officer mental wellness remains a top priority for the APA. Over the years, we have championed legislative efforts to ensure our officers receive the mental health support they need to navigate the trauma of the job.
While these resources are vital, the tragic reality is that we still lose officers to unseen struggles.
To honor these officers and support the loved ones left behind, the APA ran a 2024 law ensuring that the surviving spouses and children of officers lost to job-related PTSD receive free tuition at any state university.
As college starts, a child of one of our fallen officers is officially stepping onto campus at the University of Arizona—tuition-free.
Bear Down Matthew, and remember, the APA stands firmly behind our law enforcement officers and their families, now and always.

How would Colorado’s human trafficking penalties compare to the rest of the country under Initiative 108?
Only six states currently impose mandatory life sentences without parole for sexual trafficking of minors.
If voters approve Initiative 108 this November, Colorado would become the seventh, giving the state one of the harshest penalties in the country for the offense.

There was some concern that a ballot referral designed to target the state's teachers union would spill over to public safety unions.
The lawyers who write and advise on state statute say that is not the case.
