Our unique sustainable community-funded model is already proving successful. With a funding target of just $76 per article, our review of 40 articles found 330 community contributions, with open-access funding completed in a median of just 1.7 days.

Importantly, the model also allows us to provide stipends to peer reviewers, recognising the time and expertise they contribute. These early results show that there are other ways to fund high-quality academic publishing, without placing the financial burden entirely on authors.
