Going write-only on here for a bit. I’m not happy with how I’ve managed my time and attention (lately / my whole life), and this seems like the best way to clean it up. Goals are much more output, more authenticity, and more good conversations in 2020.

The tech-right timeline realize they’ve been boiling frogs in Elon’s stew and no one IRL actually agrees with what’s accepted wisdom here. Love to see it.

The big lesson of the Biden years is that you have to prosecute these people. You can’t just move on. You need to make the next generation of grifters and hate mongers scared for their lives.

which accounts fit here? who are the full throated techno-optimists who had the moral fortitude to not bend the knee and make a deal with the devil these last bunch of years?
is this why "former gifted kid" means "late diagnosed neurodivergent"? the smart neurotypical kids did their work and socialized or whatever and went on to normal successful lives. we did our work and went nuts so they had to bus us to an enrichment center and we burned out
I often argue the humanitarian line on gifted kids: age-based grade levels produce foreseeable, extended, crushing boredom for many of our brightest students.
However let's also notice that "gifted kid" boredom is NOT a universal experience! Plenty of bright kids are sitting out there in under-challenging classrooms, not terribly bored or miserable, just along for the ride.
What should we think about under-challenged but basically happy students? If a kid "seems fine" is that a reason not to accelerate them? It's a tough parenting problem
here's my newest, on The Hard Case of gifted kids who are NOT bored:

That’s three strikes against Russia-backed political parties: Fidesz in Hungary; SNS in Serbia; the Republican Party in the United States.
Let us hope the losing streak extends to the Russia-backed Rassemblement National in France, AfD in Germany and Reform in the UK.

What I am trying to say here is that the Trump Era (2015-2026) was prologue. The actual interesting question is what sort of political regime will emerge from the macrodecision phase, the Period of Contending States (2028-2040?)

Nothing tells you how badly MAGA has pissed people off than realising that Kansas will be represented by a Democrat in the US Senate for the first time since *1932*.
Yes, that's *94* years!

Restating myself but everything republicans and the tech oligarchs did from 2023 on was really premised on democracy ending. They knew that what they were going to do was wildly unpopular.

Yeah sex is great but have you ever heard someone tell Steve Bannon that exit polls show that young men are evenly split between Dems and Republicans and he goes silent and then says, in a very soft voice: "that can't be right"
