Thanks to the @ailg for hosting these events. @NOSPIreland #LetsTalkAboutSuicide
#AILG recently delivered an important and insightful training session on supporting councillors to respond to mental health, suicide and addiction issues.
#Councillors are often a first point of contact for people seeking help and support - it is vital to ensure that they are equipped and supported to carry out this important role.
Thank you to Cllr. Bronagh McAree, Emer Mulligan and @johnfmeehan from @NOSPIreland for sharing their expertise. #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention #LocalGovernment

Request for Tender
Deadline: Monday 24 November at 12pm.
To Develop and Establish a Suicide Bereavement Liaison Service for Travellers in Ireland
The HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced organisations to develop and deliver a culturally appropriate suicide bereavement liaison service for Travellers in Ireland. This initiative is supported by €100,000 in recurring funding secured under Budget 2025.
Organisations applying must be eligible to receiving funding under Section 39 of the Health Act 2004. The funding will be managed through either a Service Arrangement or a Grant Aid Agreement.
The service will provide appropriate practical and emotional support to Travellers bereaved by suicide, and will be developed in partnership with Traveller organisations and individuals with lived experience. It will align with national strategies and protocols, including Connecting for Life, Sharing the Vision and the National Traveller and Roma Inclusion Strategy II.
It is envisaged that the successful organisation will commence service delivery in Q2 2026. The initial phase will focus on planning and co-designing service delivery with Traveller organisations and individuals with lived experience. Surveillance data will be used to identify priority areas for service delivery. A full implementation plan, including key milestones and reporting mechanisms will be agreed upon during the inception phase to ensure timely rollout and measurable impact. The service will be evaluated after the first year of operation.
Submit completed proposals in PDF or Word format to: Carla Pestana, Project Support Officer, HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) [email protected]

Last week @HSE_West_NWest introduced a new SCAN Underage service in #Donegal.
This service aims to ensure rapid, compassionate assessment, active family involvement and seamless handover to longer‑term supports, all outside the pressure of an emergency department.
This vital initiative is the result of work by colleagues in Donegal Mental Health Services, in close collaboration with @NCP_SHSI and with support from @roinnslainte and @MaryButlerTD.
