Sacha Baron Cohen told a village of Roma people that he was making a documentary about the poverty they suffered and then instead used them as the fictional town in Borat and labelled them rapists
Sacha Baron Cohen on suspicion that the calls for a boycott of his new film, 'Ali G: Who Iz I?,' are tied to his past support of Israel: "Well, I haven’t said anything about Israel. I think people are being portrayed as things that they are not on social media and it’s problematic. We are in a world where people can’t distinguish between facts and lies, and that’s something that I’ve spent a lot of the last few years trying to fix. For example, I co-founded a group called Stop Hate for Profit with the NAACP and Color of Change and the ADL and certain other civil rights groups to stop the misinformation and incitement of racism on social media. So, I’m not surprised that prominent Jews are being targeted. I knew that this was going to happen. The level of organization is surprising, but this is a trend of Jews being portrayed in certain ways and trying to be silenced." bit.ly/4BpPgkz

Hate tweeting these days but the already weak social commentary C4 think they’re making with this show is ultimately complete undone by the fact that no institution does more to re-create the Nazi poor propaganda than C4 does with their slew of Gypsy-racism -stoking tv shows
Tonight at 10pm, Channel 4 airs what might be its most bizarre documentary yet. 'The Experiment' invites unsuspecting Brits to tour a fake care home for disabled people, then sees if they'll endorse Nazi-inspired policies. Essentially, Candid Camera meets Mein Kampf.

Watched the Peaky Blinders film last night. Them being Gypsies is a huge part of the plot. To my surprise I thought it was good, relatively accurate, and actually quite moving to see Romany representation especially in the end scene. I also think you could see the moments where

had it been the series they would have used harmful slurs but did not (which is why I never finished the series). Maybe things are finally changing a little bit, who knows

Sort of act people use as an example of not just sticking to the main stages at Glastonbury because you can see this at 4am in a hole in the ground (they are wrong)
