Which came first, Nintendo or pre-sliced bread? I built Timestack, a daily game where you put 5 historical events in order. One shot a day, scored on how close you get. timestack.jonstuebe.com

Lots of people say AI agents make React Native obsolete and you should "just write Swift and Kotlin." I think it's the other way around 👇

It's about making higher quality products. Before, there was a massive tax on going native - at least 3x increase in cost on a massive base. AI has completely changed the game the base cost went way way down by maybe 100 fold. This opens up headroom to be way more ambitious. And the need to, because everyone else will. RN is dead.

Review is the real bottleneck now. One PR in one language beats matching iOS and Android PRs that you have to check behave the same. Whether that's an agent or a human it's simply faster to check one code path instead of two.

When native does win: apps that are mostly OS integration (widgets, watchOS, CarPlay), apps that need new platform features on day one, or apps that only ship on one platform. For everything else: React Native + focused native modules. Agents made RN more valuable, not less.

Never thought I’d be quote tweeting Matt Walsh but here we are
I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.

we are currently in the main frame days of this tech. i'm convinced it will reach the personal computer age, rather quickly. at which point we can own our shit again.

"Native is cheaper now" is the wrong takeaway Have a nice read here 👇 👇 👇 #flutter #flutterdev #android #ios #react #reactnative #compose
I built the same four-screen app six ways — native, React Native, Flutter, Compose Multiplatform — with agents doing the work. Some teams dismiss native's cost too quickly. In my tests, it was the slowest by a wide margin — up to 3.5× the agent minutes.
