the going direct economy is about building systems where being a good neighbor is the profitable move, not just the virtuous one.

France is a remarkable country with a proud history Part of this history is revolution — the French are native to it in a way very few others are Revolution is like the seasons for them But this Revolution is different It’s closer to the Arab Spring than the storming of Bastille in 1789 But there lies the danger Many Frenchmen are assuming their country will be fine after this season, allowing them to sleepwalk through winter thinking it’s Spring I’d wager it will be lost for centuries if the French don’t wake up en masse and with haste ❤️ 🇫🇷

this is why i see us heading directly towards a barbell economy on steroids.

Pretty much sums it up
En Francia 🇫🇷 están protestando contra el Estado, pidiendo más Estado, para solucionar problemas que produjo el tener más Estado.

the barbell economy is a very real thing and it’s just getting started. goingdirect.substack.com/p/t…

America had 16 copper smelters in 1976. Today it has only two. We still mine a million tonnes of copper a year, but a third of it leaves the country for refining. Last year we imported twice the refined copper we made. China floods the market with refining capacity, so refining pays almost nothing anywhere else. That's a hard problem to solve. Smelters mostly stay open by selling byproducts, and some only with government support. @nrg91720 might have found a way around that. His startup, Determinant Materials, says it can skip the smelter by sorting ground-up ore with flowing liquid, in small refineries at the mine. We do the same at Solugen, where we make smaller versions of chemical plants that sit next to our customers. If Nikhil pulls it off, the US could again own its copper refining. He explains how in this interview with @jrwolfe: goingdirect.substack.com/p/7…
The Last American Refinery. Built for energy. Built for defense. Built for the reset. No more theories. No more slides. No more China. We turned $1M into steel and fire. DMs open. 🇺🇸

5. They've built their 1st micro-refinery in FL. they plan to deploy micro-refineries directly on mining sites to provide, "refining-as-a-service” to mining companies.

6. It will be fun to watch Nikhil progress. We need as many shots on goal like this to make re-shoring a reality. link to full conversation below: goingdirect.substack.com/p/7…

In 2012, private equity firms owned 816 physician practices. By 2021, that number passed 5,800. A 7x increase in under a decade. There's an argument to be made that we don't need to be capitalmaxxing in medicine...

No domestic metals refining. No re-industrialization. Sat down with @nrg91720 to chat about the process he’s created to refine metals without smelting or using nasty chemicals. full pod up at Going Direct later this week.
