The rationale for this study is that should salmon runs grow back to a harvestable size, better decisions about harvest could be made.
But...there is almost no prospect for a harvest before non-lethal sampling methods are perfected.
So, hundreds of salmon will die for no reason.
ICYMI, Alaska plans to continue a study on a parasite in Yukon River Chinook salmon this year. Canadian members of the Yukon River Panel are not pleased; one said the project, which requires lethal sampling, would push the fish to extinction cbc.ca/news/canada/north/can…

Gov Tim Walz has just made Minnesota a trans refugee state with an EO!
He will decline extradition requests.
He will refuse subpoenas.
No resource can be used to enforce bans.
They will be the first state to upgrade to dark blue, safest states in my map.
So hugely proud of @evaholland for this labour of love. There's a revolution happening in how we treat stroke, and a Calgary medical team is on the front lines: nytimes.com/2023/03/01/magaz…
So many of us have had loved ones affected by strokes and it makes me cry to read about huge leaps of progress in treating them, like the work Eva witnessed in Calgary.

“Don’t be stupid. Work hard.” Like many immigrants, I grew up in a house where working hard was a matter of survival. But lately, something else clicked into place: a sense that maybe, work shouldn’t embody my identity. Maybe, something had gone too far.🧵
