John Woo's Mission: Impossible 2 was a massive commercial success that ranked as the highest-grossing film of 2000 worldwide. This movie earned $546 million at the global box office. And while I don’t think this is one of the best M:I films, Woo’s style is so distinct & so sharp, it’s hard to resist this movie whenever it’s on cable. I firmly believe there’s never been a bad Mission: Impossible in which Tom Cruise starred as Ethan Hunt.

I miss spy thrillers like Spy Game (2001). No world-ending threat, no superhero-level action. Just intelligence officers, political manipulation and people making impossible decisions. Tony Scott knew how to make all of that genuinely exciting.

Now he's supposed to know what weapons are available in that time period. This implies that a plasma rifle already exists but he just doesn't know that you can't buy it in the store.
