So ao3 [dot] life is a website whose domain was JUST registered today, with millions (?) of fics as audiobooks within their database. Honestly this is highly suspicious — DO NOT email this site for taking your fics down, they have no business knowing that kind of information.

Repost so everyone stays informed:
DO NOT email them
DO NOT sign up
DO NOT give them money for audio books
DO NOT sign up for monetisation of works
DO NOT download
This seems to be a huge data scrape of deleted & available works uploaded to Ao3 only. Just DON'T INTERACT!!

Some helpful info as I’ve seen some fic authors concerned about this:
Google explicitly says in their policies that private Google drive files aren’t used for training by default. Source: support.google.com/docs/answ…

i've said it before but there has to be a thinkpiece somewhere on how the medical / criminal paradigm of consent has wormed its way into every discussion. wtf do you mean you don't "consent" to someone downloading your fanfic on a site that has a built in download button

i truly think that twitter being the main place that you interact with fandom will inevitably rot your brain and concept of fandom culture regardless of how long you've been in the game

Fandom spaces have been infiltrated by people who want to be popular/ treated like influencers for their contributions as opposed to just people excited to be surrounded by other people who like the same thing they like and want to show them the cool shit they wrote.

Thats the consequences of :
1) normies getting into fan activities and thinking everything has to cater to their needs
2) ppl who migrated from Wattpad, thinking the A of AO3 stands for attention seeker
3) ppl writing for kudos and not bc they genuinely like writing
