Introducing Takumi v2 beta, the Rust engine that renders JSX to images without a headless browser.
- renderSvg() for SVG output
- On-demand Google Fonts: load only the subsets your content uses, as it uses them
- Language-aware text (ja/zh/ko Han unification)
- Redesigned font caching, no more race conditions
- New documentation

Thank you @rauchg for supporting Takumi and open-source π«‘

I'm announcing v2 of my open source grants of $1,000USD to 35 awesome contributors. The themes:
β Agent skills & tools
Skills are now a valuable form of software, like Emil's world-class design eng work. Projects like πππππ, ππππ, ππππππππππππ create amazing AI engineering loops.
β‘ Local AI
Projects like ππππππππππ, π»πππππ°πΈ, and πππππππ are making inference not just a demo but for many a real and growing utility. Exciting to watch local AI unfold.
β’ Performance
There's no excuse for software to be slow anymore. Projects like πππ and ππππππ leading with speed, compilers like πΏππππ’ππ and πππππππ that can help us upgrade entire ecosystems to native, and πππππ‘ pushing the GPU rendering speed frontier.
β£ High quality foundations
AI is still at its best when it can reuse great components than regenerating every time from first principles. Lots of love to folks working on @shadcn, Svelte(kit), Nuxt, Node.js and security foundations.
β€ Cool experiments
I couldn't resist donating to gloom.sh, a 'Finance terminal in the terminal', or beautiful funky things like ππππππ-πππ.

Takumi just got huge DX improvements
> πππππππ’: πππππ support with repeated headers across pages
> New structured πππ option that replaces πππ’ππππππππ & πππ’ππππππ
> @πππππ & @πππππ’ works natively without Tailwind preprocessor
> ππ prop resolves custom Tailwind theme variables
> Tons of bug fixes
pnpm/bun install takumi-js/takumi-pdf
Smaller ones that shipped along the way:
> SVG <πππ‘π> and πππ‘ππΏπππ now renders
> ππππππ: "πππΈ" validates against PDF/UA-2
> Animated WebP writes only each frame's changed region

takumi-pdf 0.4
Generates PDF files from JSX + Tailwind. No Chromium, a WASM engine writes the bytes directly.
Output is PDF/A compliant now, the kind that holds up for EU e-invoices, legal archives and accessibility audits.
And CSS features like shadow, clip-path, outline, mask are now implemented.

Blume now runs Takumi v2 thanks to @kanewang_
That brings Twemoji support to OG card titles and lets the palette use any CSS color. I followed it with Google Fonts support, so CJK and other non-Latin titles render properly too.
