ABC News' Karen Travers pressed President Trump on the ad that Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign released targeting Ohio's Democratic candidate, Amy Acton.
Acton's campaign slammed her GOP opponent on Tuesday, alleging his campaign used her estranged mother — whom she has accused of abusing her and standing by the man who sexually abused her — to urge voters not to support her in the race.

Today the WHCA joined the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and nearly 50 news organizations in filing an amicus brief urging the court to immediately reverse the administration's ban on CNN, MSNOW, and POLITICO.
The brief makes clear what the law has long established: the government cannot remove journalists from the White House because it dislikes their reporting. That is viewpoint discrimination, and a clear violation of the First Amendment.
Today the WHCA backs that position in court, urging relief without delay.

Today’s action revoking access for journalists from CNN, POLITICO, and MSNOW violates the First Amendment. The implications extend beyond these organizations: a standard used to exclude one news outlet because of its coverage could be applied to any outlet in the future. The American people, through a free and independent press, must be able to scrutinize those elected to power, regardless of whether government officials view it favorably. That’s why courts have repeatedly held that once the White House provides access to journalists, it cannot deny that access arbitrarily or based on the content of their reporting. The WHCA calls on the administration to immediately restore our colleagues' access.

The president said it plainly in the Oval Office, describing his own planned action as a “ban on the free press.”
The Constitution protects the freedom of the press from government interference. That protection does not depend on whether the president likes a news organization’s coverage, agrees with its reporting, or approves of the questions its journalists ask.
This is about more than the rights of journalists. It is about the right of the American people to receive a full and independent account of the activities, policies and decisions of whoever occupies the nation’s highest office.
The WHCA stands in defense of our colleagues at CNN, MSNOW, and POLITICO who are being singled out for doing their jobs.

I asked President Trump why it’s so important for him to have his name on the Kennedy Center.
“I think that the Trump administration should certainly have recognition. Because frankly, if we don't do that, it's going to close. It'll end up being ripped down,” he told me.
President Trump said on Wednesday the Kennedy Center could "close" or be "ripped down" if his administration doesn't receive recognition on the performing arts center as tensions over his name being removed mount. abcnews.link/UZUPQ9C

Sec Bessent said my Qs were a “doomer view” and new data showing Americans are saving a smaller share of their income than at any other time in the past 4 years could be because “people have more confidence.”

I asked the President this Q to clarify something he said earlier in the gaggle ("The only thing that matters when I'm talking about Iran, they can't have a nuclear weapon. I don't think about American financial situation.")
He doubled down & said "every American understands"

Peace negotiations to end the U.S.-Iran war have stalled after President Trump called Iran's proposal response “unacceptable” and “a piece of garbage” that he didn’t even finish reading, adding that the current ceasefire with Iran is “unbelievably weak.”

I asked the President tonight about his briefings on hantavirus:
"It's very much-we hope-under control. It was the ship, and I think we're going to make a full report about it tomorrow. We have a lot of people, a lot of great people, are studying it. It should be fine. We hope."
Thank you to my colleagues in the White House press corps for electing me to serve as president of the @whca for the 2027-2028 term.

When asked by ABC News’ Karen Travers about those displaced by Israel’s ongoing offensive in Lebanon, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said it is “of course” a concern for President Trump.
“I think that’s why he is … quickly moving to eliminate the threat of the Iranian regime in the Middle East, including weakening their proxies like Hezbollah.”

Asked by ABC News' Karen Travers why there wasn't a plan to evacuate Americans, President Trump said, "Well, because it happened to all very quickly.”
