#SandyFire Operations Update
The fire is currently mapped at 1,385.6 acres with 5% containment. More than 750 firefighters are assigned to the incident and continue working aggressively to strengthen containment lines and protect threatened communities.

I have never seen a model predict an arc of supercell thunderstorms making landfall in California like this before.
The severe weather setup we will see tonight is something you might only experience in this part of the world once a decade, or even less often.
The @NWSBayArea discussion puts it into perspective: “In fact, our next shift just walked in and one of the meteorologists said it feels like Kansas in May out there.”
The most dangerous line of severe storms, with the highest tornado threat, will make landfall after midnight along the coast from the Central Coast up to the North Coast.
However, lines of strong storms will begin making landfall after 7 PM. Expect widespread wind gusts of 50+ mph, with isolated gusts over 70 mph tonight.

NEW: At the request of @CAGovernor Gavin Newsom, @TheCalGuard members and teams from @CalVolunteers have begun their work to assist food banks across the state in response to Trump’s prolonged government shutdown cutting off access to federally funded food benefits and support like SNAP/CalFresh.
Had the loveliest time attending @senatorsrp’s community swearing-in event at PCC. She’s the youngest Latina Senator in California’s history & has already proven she’s a force to be reckoned with! Can’t wait to see more of the amazing work she will accomplish in the future!

#HoweFire – A vegetation fire is burning in steep terrain south of the community of Piru and the Santa Clara River. The fire is estimated at approximately 40 acres. A second alarm has been requested, along with air tankers and additional helicopters.
