Met this fiber crew on Siargao yesterday. They’re laying roughly 5–7 km of cable a day, and doing it with smiles. Love seeing the people putting in the work to get the island connected.
A market counter on Siargao, same idea. Blues, greens and pinks laid out on wet tile, nothing on a foam tray.
Bangkas parked off the beach in Siargao, with one palm doing all the shade work. Hard to stop looking at this.
Shoutout to Andy for all his hard work and dedication. Had a great time talking World Mobile with him here on Siargao.
Friday round up. First week on Siargao.
The postcard strip is loud. The quieter streets are where the week actually happened.
Last week's miss: AirNode spots as three-word codes, not streets. The map got clearer.
This week's miss: I still haven't walked the second cluster. Codes on a screen aren't the same as boots on the coast.
Big networks chase the money. Quiet roads keep waiting. Easy to feel that once you're off the tourist strip.
Big networks build where the money is. This school in rural Kenya wasn't on their list.
So we put AirNodes on its roof. The students get online, and the school earns from hosting them.
Part 1 of 3. #WorldMobile
Trinidad, Cuba.
Clay plate with shredded meat, yellow rice, yuca, plantains.
No menu theater. Just lunch done right.
Clarita's in Jacó.
Imperial on ice, pennants in the rafters, Endless Summer on the wall.
Found my office for an afternoon.
Didn't mean to end up on this street.
Pack on the chair, light going orange, nowhere I needed to be for a while.
Those are the evenings that stick.
