some big “elden ring” updates via @deadline: • as previously revealed, kit connor is the protagonist and the “faithful” film will follow his journey. there are said to be battles between his character and impressive monsters and dragons. but such is the secrecy around the project that parts of the script are being held back from buyers in what is presumably a bid to avoid spoilers and increase intrigue. • the movie is heading to the american film market where it’ll be the biggest-budget standalone project ever on sale at a film or tv market. there is due to be some kind of presentation at the afm, potentially with footage. • the script has been closely guarded in the period leading up to next week’s afm in los angeles in ways generally reserved for the biggest ip. in what seems to be an industry first, a24 is flying members of its team directly to international buyers for them to read the script with the staffer present. it’s a long read. deadline hears that it runs to at least 180 pages with visuals, implying the movie could push towards three hours. • amazon mgm has pre-empted that interest by taking a bunch of international pay-1 streaming rights off the table in a big deal. the pact is understood to cover a large number of international markets and sources speculate to deadline that it is easily worth tens of millions of dollars. deadline hears the deal could also potentially lead to interesting activations on amazon’s twitch platform. • the expectation from sources deadline has spoken to is that if the movie goes well, there would likely be a sequel. 🔗: deadline.com/2026/10/elden-r…

kit connor in “a long winter” (festival reviews): “as the two brothers engage before turning out the light in their bedroom, the younger brother tommy, portrayed beautifully and almost unrecognizably by kit connor […] connor is wonderfully grounded as tommy, the younger brother preparing to leave the mountain and discover the world that mikey has already experienced. connor gives tommy a youthful energy that sits naturally within the family dynamic, and his presence helps sharpen mikey’s own complicated relationship with the outside world.” 🔗: frontmezzjunkies.com/2026/09… “his younger brother, tommy (kit connor), can see the cracks and is heading off to his station in the korean war, happier to talk with the rabbits and chickens they raise than to be in the house. […] connor possesses a quiet sturdiness to him that lets him lead with an easy confidence.” 🔗: butwhytho.net/2026/09/a-long… “the younger of two sons, the restless tommy (a solid kit connor), prepares to leave for military service...” 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/films/2026/1… “...the tension in their shared room is something to behold, as if haigh showed fred hechinger and kit connor that famous east of eden screen test with paul newman and james dean, instructing them to strive for the same brand of ‘brotherly’ love.” 🔗: thefilmexperience.net/blog/2… “…and kit connor fare[s] well on [his] short cameo...” 🔗: reviewsonreels.ca/2026/09/24… “the performances from the entire cast are fantastic.” 🔗: thecelluloidcorrespondent.co…

fred hechinger on the sense of trust on the set of “a long winter”: “that's what it is, trust. it's just, you work with people who...you care about their ideas, they interest you, they push you, and you feel comfortable and safe with them. and everybody on this film, ebon, and caitríona, and kit, d’pharaoh. i mean, martin. it's kind of endless, like everybody that was on it. just really, really talented actors who are really searching, curious people.” 🎥: youtu.be/Ks5tvlI6Z8g
