In partnership with @JAXA_en, Japan will design, develop, and operate a pressurized rover for crewed and uncrewed exploration during the @NASAArtemis campaign, starting with the Artemis VII mission. 🌕 The pressurized rover will enable astronauts to travel farther and conduct science in geographically diverse areas by serving as a mobile habitat and laboratory for crew to live and work for extended periods of time. My first paper is out! Check out @mikesori1's and my proposed new structure for an ice-rich Cerean crust derived from finite element method models!
For Ceres, an ice-rich crust containing more silicates with depth agrees with crater relaxation, morphology, and gravity inversions. This structure has a higher ice content than previously expected and could form from a relic ocean. @ianpamerleau et al.: nature.com/articles/s41550-0…

One of our newest faculty, Tabb Prissel, took part in a @NASAExpeditions to the "Valley of 10,000 Smokes." Check it out! #thenextgiantleap @OMGsuite
Tabb Prissel, Aditi Pandey, & Justin Hayles at Novarupta. The dome of dark rubble is what’s left of the volcano itself. Ash erupting from this spot in 1912 buried miles of valley. Afterward, gases escaping through countless fumaroles gave the "Valley of 10,000 Smokes" its name.
