So much of our culture is about owning opponents and tearing them down. That’s why I never get tired of hearing elite artists and athletes praise their peers. Klay and Steph are friends, of course, but it’s just so awesome to see game recognize game.
Klay Thompson on what it was like guarding Steph Curry:
“It was fun. It was really fun. Steph’s super crafty still to this day, and felt good to block his shot. He made a great up and under on me. He had an incredible night, and you know what Steph’s doing. I mean, I might not have appreciated it as much as his teammate, ‘cause I got to see it every night, so it became normal. But to see it as an opponent, it’s incredible. Especially that he’s nearing 40 and he moves like a young man, like a young athlete. It’s just all the respect in the world for him. He deserves all the accolades, the adulation, the money, and he’s just one of one, and the game’s going to miss him when he does hang it up.”

I'm going to try to read this again in the morning because at the moment it requires a level of mental gymnastics I cannot manage
Punishing law firms for working with your political opponents are the tactics of dictators & tyrants. It is an outrageous abuse of power. This guy conspired against the American people & then carried out a Jan 6 witch hunt. He should have been held accountable by now. Instead he is free to damage this country further & torture people for the crime of not submitting to their political ideology & whims.

Cornyn op-ed on what went wrong:
"The second forgotten lesson was even simpler: Be likeable. We are no longer in 2010, when articulate, appealing conservatives like Marco Rubio and Pat Toomey challenged “establishment” candidates over real policy differences. Today, it is fringe challengers who play down voting records and policy in favor of performative politics. A strange reverse personality test has taken root. If a candidate talks like an affable, reasonable person, he must be a sellout. If he makes bizarre comments or has past scandals, that’s considered authenticity." wsj.com/opinion/republicans-…
“Voters in NC have known Roy Cooper for decades. No one believed he made NC "a blood soaked killing field."”
Whatley's campaign and NC Senate GOP leaders decided in August 2025 that crime was going to be the focus of both the primary election in NC, and the entirety of Whatley's campaign.
Over the last decade, we have shown and confirmed through multiple rounds of polling, etc - that voters across the aisle, but GOP voters in particular, prefer a solutions driven message on crime. They see generic "tough on crime" rhetoric as something from their grandparent's time.
Voters in NC have known Roy Cooper for decades. No one believed he made NC "a blood soaked killing field."
Focusing on Cooper and crime prevented House Republicans from pointing to policies that North Carolina voters cared about.
That may never have been enough to change the tides in '26, but as we've said since August - focusing on crime for the next year is going to do real harm to NC, but it's not going to win.

I just had a brief phone call with President Trump and I asked him if he can work with newly empowered Democrats on Capitol Hill. He said, in part:
“I can work with them on many things, many more things than people understand…. When I ran against Bernie Sanders, basically when he dropped out, almost all of his people joined me instead of Hillary. … We’re identical on trade.”
Win or lose, I hope all the candidates had fun. It seems like a fun process and an optimal way to choose who represents our communities and states.
“She signed it while serving as acting U.S. attorney in New Jersey, days after the company was registered.”
Since Alina Habba burst into the Oval Office accusing Ric Grenell of stealing funds her husband had allocated for a donation to the Kennedy Center, here’s what we’ve learned.
— That the funds weren’t from her husband but from the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and they were sent to Texas Armament & Technology, a Houston defense company, not the Kennedy Center.
— That Habba had signed a contract worth more than $50 million — $10 million a year plus bonuses over four years — with Concord Partners, a newly formed company set up by the daughter of Venezuelan banker Julio Herrera Velutini. She signed it while serving as acting U.S. attorney in New Jersey, days after the company was registered.
Herrera had been facing a U.S. felony bribery case, struck a plea deal in August 2025, and later received a pardon from President Trump.
— That Habba’s husband, Turhan Mildon, has a history of claiming close ties to world leaders that people around those governments say he has exaggerated. He has also likely lied about his age: he has said he is 29, while his passport, U.S. visa, and classmates put him at 25. Other claims about his background and marriages are also disputed.
Habba was also on the receiving end of a harsh attack by President Trump yesterday, in which he called her deal unacceptable and said he wants the family paying her to stop.
One has to wonder if any of this would have been revealed had she not done what she did.
Talk about an unforced error.
I feel like I’m living in an alternate universe sometimes.

"The Court’s sentence must deter Mr. Bolton and, perhaps even more importantly, send a general deterrence message to the millions of U.S. security clearance holders that courts will not tolerate the willful mishandling of national defense information."
"Show me the man and I will show you the crime," is one of those quotes you only see people post when their tribe is out of power.
Sleeper election story: Indiana and Tennessee are about to join Texas in passing constitutional amendments that eliminate or reduce reliance on cash bail for serious offenses. Very red states rejecting notion that cash somehow equals safety.
