I don’t think Valve was trying to make a lot of money off this thing the devs just made a toy they wanted and want to get it to people who want it too as long as they don’t lose money that’s probably good enough that’s also why the hardware and software are so easy to modify if there’s something you want to add or change they probably just want users to mess with it themselves they’re not trying to make huge profits so there’s no reason to rush a perfect software they can just keep improving it little by little and if users come up with good ideas they can take those if you just want a VR headset that works great out of the box with the maker’s software Meta, HTC, and PICO already have that just buy one of those
