My plan for voting today is just picking the candidates that text spammed me the least.

Most Americans have no idea how beautiful this area of north east Iowa is. Pictures in the comments below.

I'm confused by still doing time change. Politicians: "Y'all all seem to hate this" Voters: "Yeah, it sucks so much we f'n die" P: "We could easily change it" V: "Please do!" P: "Like, which way?" V: "Don't f'n care. We're f'n dying it's that bad" P: "K, but..."

P: "Yeah, but... re-elections" V: "What? Huh? This is so simple." P: "Yeah, and midterms. We gotta figure out midterms." V: "Wait. Are you not going to fix this??" P: "Fix what? It's re-election season for my buddy in congress." V: "You're guaranteed another two years!!"

P: "Maybe, but I gotta help my buddy" V: "What?! Just f'n fix the thing that's literally killing people. It's soooo easy. We don't care. Almost all voters want this. Just f'n do it." P: "Do what? Huh? Please donate to my buddy's campaign. The future of Democracy depends on it!"

What if we've figured out immortality. Except, it had the issue that we had to live it out, one "mortal" lifetime at a time. But we were too afraid to try and improve it. We accepted the terms, because technically it meant eternity. Even though we had to "die", over and over.

Immortality: "You know you have to 'die' every 1-100 years, right?" Humans: "Yeah, but we'll come right back?" I: "Sure, but you won't remember" H: "But we're not really dead?" I: "I suppose not" H: "Sold!" I: "But you won't know the diff-" H: "We said... sold!"

A good primer from @MightyHeaton on gerrymandering. This video may help everyone on the beach in Treasure Island or on their ranch 80 miles away in Wauchula figure out what happened to their now-shared Florida CD16. PS: Vote @KellyKirschner for CD16! reason.com/video/2026/10/25/… via @reason

Why do people get so attached to winning/beating others as the only measure of talent/success?
Ken Rosenthal: Was it important to win one just to show you’re on this level? Taylor Walls: I think that’s pretty disrespectful honestly Rosenthal: Sorry for the wording

I've been having so much fun at work catching up on all the latest front-end tech that I missed out on the past decade. Focusing on front-end testing was nice, but my heart was really in the UI space. Front-end testing is still an important part of my job, just not all of it

Interested to try this out...
I’ve been working on something new: aiforui.dev/ AI for UI has 28 skills and 20 lessons on building great interfaces with AI. More than 3,000 people have enrolled so far. It’s $299 instead of $399 until early access closes on Friday. The full course opens in 2027.

So I have a new reason to continue using Firefox. We still have perfectly working iMacs from 2012 - my parents use it - but they can't be upgraded past MacOS 10 Catalina, and the Chrome and Safari browsers stopped supporting the older MacOS versions. But not Firefox! Good ol' Firefox still delivers the latest updates to our old machines. Tis the only browser I can use to ensure my parents are browsing safely. 😄
‼️ BREAKING: The private keys of 8 certificates from Indian certificate authority eMudhra were compromised, Mozilla says. Firefox blocked them within 3 hours. Each key should be a 116-digit number, but one was just 4. Anyone can guess them and forge HTTPS certs for any website.

What if we figure out the only way to stop the clanckers from taking over is to go back to dial-up internet. Just slow down their method of communication to a crawl.

Elon himself shared the fake LLM slop story. How are we supposed to stop AI bots when the dude in charge is too narcissistic to notice?
