It’s not the kids I’m worried about. It’s the teachers who hold them.
The more time I spend with teachers, the more I am convinced that I’ve never seen so many of them this tired, this unseen, or this concerned about our kids. Our teachers are hurting.

Can’t help but think of the children in #Ukraine. Adults declare war, but children are always the victims.
I believe children need different types of education, different pedagogical approaches, extra supports for their exceptional needs. And I KNOW we can offer that in a properly resourced public education system. Charters are not the answer.
Replying to @SOSAlberta
“As Canadians, the rejection of charter schools demonstrates our collective commitment to the some of the most important core principles of public education, including access, quality and equity.
An important thread. Yesterday changed public education in Alberta immeasurably. 🧵 thanks @SOSAlberta for always explaining better than I can.
Because it needs to be said again after today's throne speech. I support public education, teachers, and public services of all kinds. We can build systems that resist austerity, support the workers, and most importantly: build an alberta where we all belong and thrive #abpoli
From childcare to post secondary, education is worth defending. Solidarity with faculty striking today in #yql #savethesemester #ufla #uleth #worthfightingfor ✊️
OK team. How are you feeling about today's announcement? Feel free to dm or email me too if you prefer. We also have a community conversation at The Collective 630-8 on Thursday if you'd like to chat. #yql

A teacher being removed from an elementary classroom for wearing a hijab should make *every single* Canadian angry, not just Muslim Canadians.

Nervous and cautiously excited about the long awaited childcare deal to be announced this morning 🤞Child care & early learning is a critical part of a comprehensive educational approach to care in our communities, alongside public education. This investment is long past due.
Alberta and the federal government have reached a deal on 'affordable, quality child care,' the province says. Details are to be released Monday morning. cbc.ca/1.6248936
I appreciate hearing from @FrenchLaurie, president of Canadian School Boards Association @cdnsba - the effort to provide strong and equitable education and care to young people is a group effort. Investment in children must come from all levels. @ABSchoolBoards #asbafgm2021 #abed
Looking forward to today's business session at @ABSchoolBoards Fall General Meeting to help set the direction for our collective voice in the province as well as learn more about our work together. #asbafgm
Congratulations to Juliann Sommerfeldt, our zone 6 Edwin Parr Award recipient! Juliann teaches in Westwind School Division. First year teachers are a great gift to our system, their energy, ideas, and passion are always a breath of fresh air! @wwsd74
