What an honour to be on the #SAA2023 #NextGenPlen with @hixonbecky, @limericklinz, & @essm714 (thank you, @ProfFarahKC)! Sincerest thanks to all who attended, asked such thoughtful questions, & came up to say hello after. It was my absolute pleasure to share that talk with you!

Hi early modern friends! Does anyone know whether it will be possible to sign up for/participate in seminars at both SAA and RSA in Boston this coming year, or whether we will have to choose?

Are you a historian? Are you able to come to Laramie, WY this month to talk about your research (expenses paid + an honorarium)? If you are interested in this exciting, madcap opportunity to help me spend a pot of money before it is lit on fire, get in touch!

As you may have already seen, Flaco the Eurasian eagle-owl has passed away. I am sad beyond words. Flaco defied the odds and made quite a life for himself in the city over the past year. Along the way he came to mean so much to so many, including me. ❤️🦉

Genuinely incredible
I made a Classical Chinese Poetry Bingo to help people recognize the common tropes and motifs.🤣 These show up frequently in the modern poetry I translate as well. Do you recognize anything from your readings or from pop culture? Tag yourself. I'm "feeling sad on a boat" lol

Your periodic reminder that less ice at the Arctic is consistent with a weaker jet stream that allows cold air to drift down into the Great Plains. The frigid temps you're experiencing happen BECAUSE of a warming planet, not in spite of it.

Hello early modern folks! Does anyone have a recommendation for scholarship on Peele's "Edward I"? I'm coming up surprisingly empty!

I had the great pleasure of seeing "Adrift" by Happenstance Theater last night, and it was absolutely wonderful -- the most joyful, profound, deeply silly celebration of mystery, filled with thoughtful medieval references. Go see it, if you can! 59e59.org/shows/show-detail/…

Friends, I went to see the #TFANA "Waiting for Godot" yesterday, and they made *such* a fabulous, exciting staging choice in the Lucky/Pozzo scene in Act I (short 🧵)

It was a genuinely incredible piece of staging. I'm always intrigued by characters who have a lot of stage time with very little dialogue, and this was a superb way of giving Lucky a constant presence. 6/

Catch it in NYC if you can! Godot didn't show up on the night that I went, but maybe you'll be Luckier! end/
