The most difficult thing about building a writing career is that it requires one of the most finite resources: Time.
Making a living solely from writing is rare and requires not just talent, but a commitment of time that some are unable to make, especially today. Hours spent at a writing desk are often replaced by hours at a day job that saps the creativity from a person before they get home, all in the interest of paying the bills.
Only a lucky few are able to make a living solely with their words. It will be a long road and an uphill climb, but I intend to be one of them before my life is through. #WritingCommunity

Linking to Amazon on your book page isn’t enough. Retailer diversity: IndieBound, B&N, Indigo and Amazon links are a smarter move.

Bad Writing Tips #59: Every writer wants their books to be as palatable as possible for their readers. One way to make it easy for them to keep up is to start every sentence on a new line, then add an extra blank line after the last sentence to mark the end of the paragraph.

There are far too many predatorial companies seeking unsuspecting authors to separate from their money.
Before you sign anything, ask: What do I get? Who owns my rights? What if I walk away?
There are legit author's service companies that provide solutions for those unable to complete all book design tasks: formatting, book cover, etc. But being required to "pay to publish" usually is not in a writers best interest. As a true publisher pays the author.
I recommend a damn good prologue. It's like the appetizer that sets the tone for the entire meal...
