6 years today since first surgery for intra osseous SOM. Nearly 4 since the second surgery. My manager said in 2023 I couldn't do my job any more. Took 2 years to be retired on ill health. Grateful thanks @SkullBaseLeeds
5 years today since my first surgery. Still off work although getting used to my new normal, still counting my blessings and still grateful for those very clever people at the LGI.

Chlorinated water so spent some time gluing my prosthetic on in the car today so I can wear goggles. Don't know why I've always left it until I'm at the pool. Feels more secure letting the glue go tacky. Time to find out if it works and stays stuck for the session

Stayed stuck for 40 lengths, came off in the sauna. Quite liked not having the dent in my head for an hour. Larger goggles are more comfortable and though they leaked occasionally, it is worth persevering with I think.

Breast cancer cells are LOADED with insulin receptors. That's important to know for preventing/treating it. Why? Read on... In 159 breast tumors, insulin receptor content was more than 6 times higher than in normal breast tissue. And the receptors worked: they bound insulin and switched on. Many cancer cells favor a form of the insulin receptor (IR-A) that acts mainly as a growth signal, not a sugar-handling one. Insulin tells these cells to grow. So what happens when insulin runs high? 512 women with early breast cancer had fasting insulin checked. Highest vs lowest quarter: 2x the distant recurrence, 3.1x the death rate. In the Women's Health Initiative, researchers measured insulin in about 1,650 postmenopausal women drawn from a cohort of 93,676. In women not on hormone therapy, the top quarter of insulin had 2.4x the breast cancer risk. And the obesity link mostly faded once insulin was accounted for. Few doctors check fasting insulin. Fewer still know that Low-carb/Keto/Carnivore is the most direct way to bring it down. I've made videos on this (see below). If high insulin goes with more breast cancer AND worse outcomes, why isn't fasting insulin part of every breast cancer workup? Studies and my videos below... – at Tennessee, USA

I don’t care if someone calls me a ‘transphobe’. In fact, I’ve reached the point where I take it as a compliment. Because it’s increasingly used to describe women who stand up for their sex-based rights. And the men who support them. Why would I be insulted by that? But while I’m not offended by the word, I am wary of people who use it. Because it tells me something about their priorities. That they believe men’s identities and feelings matter more than the safety, privacy and dignity of women and girls. And that’s not someone whose judgement I’d be inclined to trust.

Slept well. I've got 3 days left on my free gym pass so I better make the most of it and go swimming again. Pool is too shallow to dive into and a bit warm, but Ilkley lido has shut for the winter and this is only 5 minutes away, so mustn't complain!

I literally had a patient that developed life-threatening thrombocytopenia with a single digit platelet count after taking a statin for the first time and the cardiologist asked him to try it again What the fuck is wrong with this field… ?

This consumed me for 10 years. Online abuse is not okay. It has made me doubt myself and my abilities for long enough, it was time I spoke out and let it go! #triathlon #ironmantri #worldtriathlon #ironmanworldchampionship #cozumel

Please explain Mathew? I’m an NHS nurse and would like to get changed before/after a shift, alongside teenage, pregnant, and near retirement women knowing that a man will not enter the space. I’d like to care for confused female patients, and not have to ask them to lower their voice if they’re upset by a man in the next bed. I don’t want to tell parents who have a male carer knock on their door, to provide intimate care to their non-verbal daughter that they need to pipe down, or be accused of bigotry. Exactly why am I wrong in wanting that for colleagues, patients and families?

The only young man I knew irl who played Quidditch (at Oxford) caught the woke mind virus and started dressing as a woman not long after. Sad waste of potential.
Does quidditch have a JK Rowling problem? The real-life version of the fictional game is a haven for the LGBTQ+ community. As fans become excited about an upcoming TV adaptation, the author’s views continue to be an issue ✍️ Vicky Jessop bit.ly/4AXXBM3

Absolutely, great idea! I’ll start. @GoodLawProject is a deeply misogynistic organisation that continuously attacks and targets women and campaigns to take away women’s rights.
We need more men calling out misogyny, willing to stand with women, and take action. Will you join us? goodlawproject.org/petition/…

Woke Mob then: "We just want you to stop forcing gays to go to church and kiss girls." Woke Mob now: "All children need to taste the rainbow of sexual expression and mutilate themselves before puberty, otherwise they may grow out of it and become part of the cistemic patriarchy!"

'Gender affirmative' therapists will never fear their collars being felt....despite providing true conversion therapy to gender distressed young people. The punishment will only goes one way if this Bill goes through...Shame!

If your 13yo daughter came home from school and said her non-binary friend had invited her for a sleepover, the first question any sane parent would ask is: ‘Is this a male friend or a female friend?’ And that is just one of the reasons why non-binary BS is BS. I have more…

So sad.
There once was a girl And she liked to climb trees. She had dirt in her hair, And blood on her knees. Had no pink in her cupboard, Didn’t like the right toys, So they cut off her hair And they called her a boy. She fell into depression. They tried to be kinder; To help her fit in: Crushed her breasts in a binder. But it wasn’t enough She felt awkward and weird, So they pumped her with drugs And they grew her a beard. She couldn’t stand dresses, She refused to wear bras, So they cut off her breasts, Celebrated her scars. They stripped flesh off her arm Made a fat tube of skin, Sewed it onto her crotch, And said: “Now you’re a him!” He looked like a man, But squeaky and little, His hair falling out, And his bones frail and brittle. He suffered through menopause, Atrophy, bleeding, His new penis was limp And lacked any feeling. His parents agreed, He would never give birth, So they cut out his ovaries, To spite all the TERFs. He grew sadder, and sadder, But could not find the answer, His heartbeat grew weak, And the drugs gave him cancer. When crying one night, His whole head in a whirl, His mum asked: “what’s wrong?” She said: “Mum, I’m a girl.”

Progressives once rejected biological essentialism, which maintained that sex condemned a woman to comply with misogynistic stereotypes. Now, some "progressives" claim that adopting those same misogynistic stereotypes makes one a woman. This is seriously regressive.

THE PEACOCK BROOCH: GUSTAVE BAUGRAND, 1867 A jewel conceived as theatre. Created in Paris by the celebrated jeweller Gustave Baugrand, this extraordinary peacock brooch embodies the opulence and imagination of the Second Empire. Gold, diamonds, Burmese rubies, Ceylon sapphires, Indian emeralds and a luminous pearl transform the bird into a miniature masterpiece of 19th century haute joaillerie. Its most enchanting detail lies in the tail: the precious stones are individually mounted en tremblant, allowing the feathers to gently vibrate with every movement capturing and multiplying the glow of candlelight. Baugrand presented a peacock brooch at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1867, where his sophisticated jewels attracted considerable attention. Today, this remarkable jewel belongs to the collection of DIVA Museum, Antwerp, where it remains a testament to an era when jewellery was not merely worn, but designed to move, sparkle and astonish. A jewel of movement, colour and imperial elegance. #GustaveBaugrand #DIVAAntwerp #Antwerp #PeacockBrooch #AntiqueJewellery #HistoricJewellery #FrenchJewellery #HauteJoaillerie #19thCenturyJewellery #VictorianJewellery #SecondEmpire #ExpositionUniverselle #JewelleryHistory #HighJewellery #JewelleryCollector #ArtOfJewellery #Diamonds #Emeralds #Rubies #Sapphires #Pearls
