Lagos, a city of less than 1.5 million in 1970, is fast growing with an estimated population of more than 14 million people. There is a big challenge of providing adequate, accessible, and affordable housing for these people who are mostly low and middle-income earners.

To tackle the challenges of affordable housing in Lagos, existing policies have to be enforced. There is a tenancy law that frowns against landlords accepting more than a year's rent. Developers need to consider erecting economical apartments for young middle-class Nigerians.
