Trump has repeatedly demanded that Ukraine stop attacking russian oil refineries – one of the few effective ways Ukraine can undermine russia’s ability to finance its war. According to President Zelenskyy, American officials threatened to cut off intelligence sharing if Ukraine continued these strikes. A U.S. official disputes this account. Trump has authorized russian diesel sales on international markets and waived certain sanctions, potentially providing Moscow with additional revenue.
