Wind optimized routing shines in the winter. The hard part is rejecting all the directs ATC instinctually wants to give you. Clearance delivery raised an eyebrow, asked us to confirm it multiple times. Use the remarks to tell ATC route is optimized, request remain on filed route.

Ten straight days now where the seven-day average of FAA IFR flight plan filing activity exceeded 2019 levels. As of this morning, the seven day average is 13.5% above last year, and all three categories - piston, turboprop, and jet - are above 2019 levels. Piston traffic +26%.
