Google investment for DATA CENTRE here is bad idea and why are we allowing this corporate giant have its way in Malaysia.
Menyampaikan ucaptama di program Mantap Malaysia Bersama AI anjuran Google di Universiti Malaya, yang menyaksikan pengumuman pelaburan baharu Google bernilai AS$15 bilion bagi tempoh 2027 hingga 2028. Pelaburan strategik ini dijangka menyumbang purata AS$1.1 bilion setahun kepada KDNK negara serta menyokong lebih 37,000 pekerjaan tempatan setiap tahun sepanjang fasa pembinaan, selain mengekalkan lebih 9,000 pekerjaan setahun apabila kemudahan beroperasi kelak.
Ini merupakan manifestasi keyakinan pelabur antarabangsa terhadap kestabilan ekonomi, keupayaan bakat tempatan serta potensi Malaysia sebagai hab teknologi digital dan kecerdasan buatan (AI) terkemuka di rantau ini.
Namun, saya tegaskan bahawa kejayaan pelaburan tidak seharusnya diukur semata-mata melalui besarnya modal yang dibawa masuk, sebaliknya sejauh mana manfaatnya dapat mengangkat martabat dan kesejahteraan rakyat.
Justeru, komitmen Google untuk meningkatkan kemahiran 800,000 rakyat Malaysia menjelang 2031, termasuk anak muda TVET, pendidik, penjawat awam dan usahawan kecil, selain kerjasama dengan lebih 80 entiti tempatan, amat bertepatan dengan aspirasi Ekonomi MADANI untuk memperkukuh keupayaan industri negara, memperluas peluang pekerjaan bermutu serta merapatkan jurang kesenjangan digital.
Sementalahan, pembangunan teknologi mesti turut ditunjangi prinsip ihsan dan tanggungjawab terhadap kelestarian alam, termasuk komitmen Google menambah kapasiti tenaga bersih melebihi satu gigawatt serta memperkukuh jaminan bekalan air negara.
Dalam kerangka MADANI, teknologi bukan matlamat akhir, sebaliknya wahana untuk memperkasa potensi manusia dan menegak keadilan sosial. Kita tidak mahu revolusi AI sekadar berlegar di kalangan elit, sedang rakyat kebanyakan hanya menjadi pemerhati. Kemajuan sebenar ialah apabila kecanggihan teknologi, kemakmuran ekonomi dan kesejahteraan rakyat bergerak seiring, tanpa ada yang tercicir daripada arus perubahan.
