A fantastic interview from this British ex-ambassdor. Yes #UAE is asset stripping in #Sudan a la East India Company , as the Brits did during their imperialism period. In #Ethiopia the push for port and as Eritrea has argued is a UAE agenda and here the Ambassdor confirms #UAE plans for port acquisition as part of their control of supply chain. Textbook imperialism and what of it? Classic brit. Lol .

IMPERIAL NOSTALGIA AND REFUSAL TO SWALLOW ERITREAN SOVEREIGNTY November 7, 2026 | By Ghidewon Abay Asmerom Al Mariam’s arguments fail both historical and legal scrutiny. Egypt has no authority to bargain away Eritrea’s sovereign coastline in exchange for Nile concessions. Nor can his inflammatory portrayal of Eritrean soldiers erase their assistance to Ethiopia’s Northern Command survivors. Imperial nostalgia cannot override historical truth, international law, or Eritrea’s sovereignty. But stability cannot be defined exclusively through the lens of one country, nor can it be achieved by overlooking the sovereignty, territorial integrity and legitimate security concerns of its neighbors. Preventing escalation requires more than calls for restraint. It demands addressing the underlying causes, and upholding the principles of the UN Charter and international law. Threats, coercion and ambitions directed against the territorial integrity of neighbors cannot be normalized or overlooked. Regional stability cannot be built on selective principles or strategic appeasement ... and stability is not a license for regional primacy, nor can it come at the expense of the sovereignty and security of neighboring states. There can be no durable regional stability without respect for sovereign equality, territorial integrity, mutual respect and adherence to international law. Cc: @GHessebon @GermanyDiplo

Since October 2023, the Potemkin regime in #Ethiopia has explicitly declared war on #Eritrea multiple times, proving that #AbiyAhmed is unstable enough to attempt an invasion. I've made a modest effort to document 👇🏾his regime's provocations below, sharing them here for sharper minds to use or build upon this evidence to make an unassailable case against the regime. 🙏🏾 👉🏾 Link 1 xitter.gq/AligidirEritrea/status… 👉🏾Link 2 xitter.gq/AligidirEritrea/status… 👉🏾Link 3 xitter.gq/AligidirEritrea/status…
So, #Ethiopia’s Mad King stood before his newly minted soldiers TODAY and did what he does best: sold a delusion wrapped in a threat. By claiming his army will march toward the shores of #Somalia & the #Eritrea|n port of Massawa under the tired guise of “fighting terror,” he’s finally said the quiet part out loud. The card stunts even featured a battleship with the word 'Assab' on it. The grim irony isn’t lost on anyone in the Horn of Africa. A rare, localized consensus is forming: the only true destabilizing force, ie the primary "terror group" in the region, is Abiy and his own regime. It’s good to see prominent Ethiopian voices no longer whispering about his stability; they are shouting about his madness. One veteran journalist noted today that Abiy’s “overdrive” into insanity is dragging the country toward total destruction. To many others, this latest posturing is just pathetic propaganda designed to manufacture consent for his war with the TPLF in Tigray, and the Amhara FANO afterwards. From an Eritrean standpoint, any attempt to apply logic to Abiy’s strategy is a fool’s errand. This isn't a chess player making a move; it’s a man who crossed the Rubicon years ago and burned the bridge behind him. By shifting 75% of his military assets north, Abiy has proven this isn’t about national security or territorial integrity. It’s about the unchecked ego of a man who genuinely believes his own mythology as the "7th King" of a “new” Ethiopia that extends beyond those century and a half old regional borders. Little does he know you cannot build a lasting kingdom on a foundation of bone and ash. Moreover, he doesn’t realize he has not only paved the way for #SaudiArabia and #Egypt to intervene in the Horn and defend Red Sea security, but has also, at the 11th hour, ready to tip the scales toward his own end. Needless to say, the "7th King" is no longer just a figure of speech; it’s a warning of a man who would rather be the sovereign of a graveyard than the leader of a peaceful nation.

Reading from a teleprompter on Ethiopia's TV yesterday, the Potemkin Party's Prime Minister disparages Eritrea's economic development, and particularly its manufacturing sector, as "stagnant and in decline" since its independence in 1991. The speech/interview was also laced with his three-year old threats of war of aggression and invasion unless Eritrea succumbs to his delusional projects of "sovereign access to the sea" and "Ethiopian naval presence" in Eritrea's coastal territory; packaged this time round in different pretexts, language, and format. To revert to his disparaging discourse on Eritrea's economic performance and potential: 1. In the past 35 years, Ethiopia was the beneficiary of a whopping 80-90 billion US dollars of international multilateral and bilateral assistance; 2. Ethiopia went through two rounds of WB sponsored debt-cancellation rounds, as well as repetitive financial bailouts from the IMF and other donors. For almost ten years in -between, Ethiopia's dire humanitarian conditions were alleviated by the international community under a customized "social safety net" and other similar "intensive care" financial antidotes. 3. The current regime itself has received over 30 billion US dollars in international assistance in the last 8 years alone. In addition, its tattering economy is being resuscitated by another IMF bailout programme to the tune of 3.1 billion US dollars. 4. And yet, as the figures below illustrate, more than 68% Ethiopians are living under extreme poverty while close to 30 million people require urgent humanitarian relief assistance at this point in time. 5. In as far as the 300 manufacturing plants that the PP leader alludes to, these were old factories built during Italy's colonization of Eritrea from 1889 until 1941. The British Military Administration dismantled many of those factories - including the dock in Massawa - as "war booty" and sold them to other foreign countries. The occupationist Haile Selassie regime, in its turn, dismantled many of the remaining factories and transferred them to Ethiopia especially during the imposed "Federation" period. 6. After its hard-won independence in 1991, Eritrea registered rapid economic growth in the first seven years (WB reports). Imposed wars and unwarranted sanctions thereafter naturally affected the pace and magnitude of its economic trajectory. 7. These externalities have nothing to do with Eritrea's open investment and economic policies and visions. 8. And in any case, Eritrea has the abundant economic endowments (blue economy, extractive industry, educated and industrious human capital, and a civilized culture that celebrates religious and ethnic diversity within robust national unity) to excel and achieve its aspirations of rapid and sustainable growth in a conducive and enduring regional climate of peace and stability. 9. Finally, Ethiopia itself could do much better, extricate itself from debilitating dependency, and use its abundant resources for real development if its leaders abandon sectarian policies of division and polarization that incubate perennial cycles of internal turmoil as well as intertwined acts of regional destabilization in pursuit of delusional and expansionist projects.

Dawit Endeshaw is an #Ethiopian🇪🇹 journalist who works for @ReutersAfrica and is based in #AddisAbaba. His colleague, David Lewis, is a conflict reporter for @ReutersAfrica. Many unconfirmed and undocumented reports about Eritrea’s🇪🇷 alleged “invasion” of #Ethiopia seem to originate with @ReutersAfrica. Coincidence? Just asking.

[...] With the Houthis in control of the Arabian Gulf side of the waterway, Eritrea’s coastline is even more critical to global shipping. According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), countries can claim up to 12 nautical miles for their territorial waters. Under international law, vessels have a right to transit straits freely, but some legal experts say states whose waters comprise them may have a right to charge piloting, service or environmental fees. MEE asked Saleh how Eritrea views tolls in the waterway. He replied, “This is a new idea, a new concept. Because Iran raised it [in the Strait of Hormuz] doesn’t mean Eritrea will ask.” “[But] there should be a discussion among littoral states and a decision how to ensure free passage,” he said. “If Yemen is non-existent, we can’t speak with it now about these issues.”

Timely message for Potemkin Party (PP) and their incompetent leader, wedi Beshasha.
Eritreans would fight hard to protect what is theirs. They would remain resilient, no matter how long takes to degrade/neutralise their enemies. He knew that, but why is he committing suicide? Because Abiy isn't in charge, he is a UAE lapdog. Clip, credit to @abbygedam

We fix it for you “ No amount of $ lobbying and photo apps will hide the truth of Eritrean unity” Eritrean government doesn’t need lobbyists our unity is not a myth invented to conceal division, nor an obstacle to freedom. It is a historical achievement, a strategic necessity, and a lived reality that continues to anchor stability in one of the world’s most fragile regions!! So, It’s apparent have drunk from the fountain arrogance, hate, war, destruction, and greed!

Potemkin Party political pygmies - and segments of its senior military brass - seem to have chosen to indulge in, and ramp-up, their reckless saber-rattling and war agenda in these early days of 2026. The toxic propaganda pendulum oscillates from provocative gimmicks of incorporating - especially in media outlets & platforms aimed at their domestic audience - Eritrea's sovereign coastal lands in photoshopped Ethiopian maps in flagrant breach of international law, to playing "victimhood" by couching and legitimizing their illicit quest for sovereign access to the sea "in self-defense" terms when addressing their external audiences. But, reckless and deplorable as these gimmicks remain, they are in many respects innate, or second nature, for the Potemkin Party whose modus operandi and hallmarks are: Optics + Posturing + Deception + Disinformation. xitter.gq/hawelti/status/1965070…
PP (aka Potemkin Party) political and military officials are in an overdrive mode these days; enveloped as they are in inordinate fanfares to "normalize" their delusional and reckless pursuit of "securing sovereign access to the sea". They are even harking back to the dark chapter in the modern history of both countries to allude to, and lionize, the annexation period; unlawful and abominable as this is. As underlined on various occasions before, this is of course a political blasphemy of the highest order; a red line that should not be contemplated or crossed. PP is dangling this toxic, adventurist, agenda of war and conflict while presiding over an economy that requires intermittent financial injections from the IMF, the WB, and other assorted multilateral and bilateral "donors". The multiple internal wars that are raging in Ethiopia to exact avoidable losses of precious lives and the destruction of property is another quagmire that warrants judicious resolution for the sake and welfare of the Ethiopian people. And yet, PP officials and their minions seem to indulge in extensive and elaborate gaslighting - hosting Summits on Climate Change; Afro-Caribbean Cooperation etc. - to deceive and hoodwink their domestic and international constituencies rather than seeking enduring solutions to their domestic woes and contributing to a regional climate of stability and cooperation on the basis of legality and common sense.

I just came across this old news video on the extravaganza we are witnessing in our communities. Start at the 12th minute. youtu.be/A3nEe58EZMA Are we in the diaspora losing our sense of priorities? The news above is what is happening in zoba Debub and what we witness in our own communities in the diaspora is worse. It suggest that something has gone badly off track. One cannot understand why people feel compelled to spend thousands of dollars on weddings, christenings, baby showers, birthdays, and graduations. For what? To impress whom? And with what lasting benefit? Let’s be honest: Does a wedding that drains a family’s savings make the marriage stronger? Why not get married in what used to be called by Chiluq (ጭሉቕ)። Does a child baptized with a full band, decorated hall, and imported guests somehow live a longer or more blessed life than one baptized quietly? Does a student who throws a huge graduation party suddenly earn higher grades or land a better job? Of course not. We know the answer. Yet the spending keeps growing, bigger halls, bigger crowds, bigger menus, bigger debts. What should be intimate, meaningful milestones have turned into competitive festivals where people perform for social approval and bankrupt themselves for a few hours of applause. Worse still, we pressure relatives and friends across oceans to buy expensive tickets, take time off work, fly for fifteen hours, and spend money they don’t have, all for ceremonies that are over in half a day. It borders on absurdity. We are confusing celebration with spectacle, tradition with extravagance, and community with competition. Most of the wedding activities that we witness in the diaspora are imitations and amalgamations of foreign cultures. If the price tag of a ceremony matters more than the meaning behind it, something is deeply wrong. In fact, I would respect any man or woman who walks away from a marriage discussion the moment they are pressured into throwing a grand, showy event. If the other partner, or their parents, care more about the size of the party than the strength of the union, then they are not ready for marriage at all. That kind of mismatch will cost far more than any wedding invoice. We need to reclaim our values. We need to stop pretending that excess equals love. We need the courage to say “No” to pointless spending and “Yes” to building stable families, educating our children, and investing in our future, not in one-night displays of vanity. It is not just unsustainable. It is foolish. And our community deserves better. @GhideonMusa @hadnetkeleta @EliasAmare @hawelti @Yehdavid @SirakBahlbi @ytmn2 @YPFDJ @YPFDJNA @NUEWEritrea

No cascade of grand ceremonies or hollow speeches can hide the truth any longer. #Ethiopia stands on the edge of a precipice, and this man’s words cut through the propaganda like a blade. Beyond the polished façades of Addis Ababa, the state has all but evaporated seven relentless years of war have gutted its authority, leaving behind a landscape scarred by extrajudicial killings, religious tensions, and ethnic violence that has become horrifyingly routine. The people are drained, betrayed, pushed past endurance. And when a nation is abandoned by those meant to govern it, the explosion that follows is never neat, never controlled. The Prosperity Party stopped governing in 2020; what remains now is a powder keg waiting for a single spark. #Ethiopia #Amhara #Tigray #Oromia #Afar #Harar #Gumuz
