I just launched my next app: Galaxy Gauntlet When I was at uni and just starting my journey into software development, I spent my days tinkering on an iOS game called Little Universe. Swift had just launched, SpriteKit too, and I had no idea what I was doing. I was failing, learning, and even spending days drawing every graphic myself. It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in software. I shipped it, got about a thousand downloads, then finished my degree and started working full time. I still think back to that time as where my love of tinkering and building actually started. ~15 years later, I revisited that idea and used it to spark a rebuild. Try Galaxy Gauntlet on iOS: galaxygauntlet.com

It’s almost 2027. If you’re not getting the response you want from your agent then it’s a YOU problem. Or you’re using Grok.

If you're like me and looking for your first users then get your agent to do a competitor analysis and publish the results to your website. Not only is this handy for SEO but it's a great motivator to improve your product by comparing competitors head-to-head just the way potential users would. Case in point: I'm positioning Preppery as a household solution however my billing was linked to individual users. That means each user in a household would have to pay separately if they wanted to use the app. It's completely backwards and it sounds obvious in hindsight, but this was only clear to me once I had the competitor analysis in front of me. Now the billing has changed to align with the positioning of the product. One subscription per household.

Morning bkk 🇹🇭

It's do or die for Grok 4.8 and Cursor. It's clear that Cursor (cough *SpaceX*) is doubling down on Grok as the primary driver however what's also clear is that the quality and performance of Grok 4.7 is considerably worse than the other Frontier models right now. Cursor used to be an advantage but now I feel like I'm falling behind. If 4.8 doesn't deliver then I'll be switching away from using Cursor as my daily driver for the first time in 2 years.

2 weeks until I'm back on a flight to 🇹🇭 for a short remote work trip. Looking forward to working from cafes, iced coffees and warm weather. But most of all, the awesome food everywhere.

Spent the weekend redoing Preppery's App Store previews. The new frames on the top look more professional and the messaging is more concise imo. Which set would make you hit install?

did Google just re-enter the chat?

I’m migrating from AWS to Cloudflare + PlanetScale. Since launching, distribution and finding PMF have been hard, and hosting the database with the rest of the stack on AWS isn’t cheap. Moving to Cloudflare with a PlanetScale DB should reduce my monthly bill to ~20% of the AWS bill. This should buy me more time to reach users without costs climbing. Keep grinding!

Final 20% ✅ Next app launch loading...
The final 20% of an app launch is both the most exciting and the most painful part. You feel so close to the finish line, except there are still so many small tasks left. Most of them are painful marketing and legal work: App Store metadata, privacy policy, analytics, socials - the list goes on! It’s boring, unglamorous work, and this is where a lot of builders fall down.

My hot take: there won’t be a next big UI library. Certainly not bigger than shadcn. And if agents are the future then they won’t need a UI library because UI is for humans.
Hot take: the next big UI library won't win on looks. It'll win on whether an AI agent can use it without hallucinating props. That's why PanelUI ships llms.txt, an agent skill, and an MCP server that reads the real component registry. Docs aren't just for humans anymore.

Google Play reviews are officially worse than the App Store. I remember when Android reviews were quick and Apple was the one that took forever. My Android app has been in review for 10 days without an update. I have a backlog of features ready to ship on iOS and Android, but I’m stuck waiting on this process. And I already know conversion and revenue will be worse on Android than iOS.

I used Grok 4.7 to build a landing page for my next app and it was genuinely one of the worst things I've ever seen

How long are Google Play reviews taking for you right now? I know Apple has a reputation of being slow to review, but my app's Android release has been in review for almost a week now...

I’ve gotten more done in the first hour today than I used to get done in a full day or two a year ago. Across 4 different projects too. This timeline is actually cracked.

Does anyone else find Android harder than iOS? I was hoping yesterday was the day I'd finally submit Preppery to the Play Store. But I'm still finding Android only bugs that don't show up on iOS. Things like navigation crashes and touch events not working as expected. Hopefully I'll be able to launch by end of the week!

I did 0 hours of work this weekend for the first time in months. Didn’t even open X once. I went in a bit anxious that I wasn’t going to make any progress but I ended up having a better weekend than most of the productive ones. ✅ Half-marathon easy run ✅ Board games with friends all day ✅ Lunch with family ✅ Basketball with my wife (caught an L though) Ready and recharged for the week ahead now!
