I mean its not even that tbh its the fact that they’re able to love a character as shitty as nesta who has probably the worst flaws in the series and isn’t likable at all but ofc hate the quiet sensitive character calling her names as if she murdered their entire family
Nesta stans who hate Elain are wild to me. As someone whose favorite character has been at the center of so much hate in this fandom, you’d think you’d understand what it’s like. Yet you’re hating on a character whose story hasn’t even been told yet, just like Nesta’s once hadn’t

anyway there's something so sad about reading Feysand's bonus chapter in which Rhys says that elain hadn't shown her true colors out of fear that she'll disappoint people and in acosh she finally snaps and she received exactly that kind of reaction

I think so too. For someone who claimed to be an Elain stan, she sure hate a lot.
So much for women’s empowerment when your empathy for women suddenly disappears the moment it comes to Elain.

Disappointed but not surprised. Can’t wait for their reactions once we get Elain’s POV.
You can’t excuse every single one of Nesta’s flaws as trauma and then turn around and weaponize Elain’s flaws against her. That’s not feminism or women’s empowerment. That’s selective empathy and hypocrisy.

“He’d find Elain. He’d talk to her, after everyone had some time to cool off. Together, he and Elain would figure out a plan.
And then they’d make everything right.”

acotar fandom will forgive a man who abandoned a woman naked in the woods with nails in her body and called her a whore for centuries, but elain, who’s done NOTHING comparable, is treated like the worst person alive. the misogyny is insane

My post-Splintered Harmony theory: I think SJM intentionally “splintered” everyone into their smaller found-family groups for Movements II/III before they all reunite for the final war.
Feyre/Rhys/Amren → diplomacy + building alliances
Nesta/Cassian/Gwyn/Emerie → Valkyries, priestesses/Bryaxis + Prison/Made objects, with Gwyn healing from the Blood Rite and her past traumas as well as repairing her friendships (could eventually see this moving into her training new women to become Valkyries to teach them how to protect themselves)
Lucien/Vassa/Jurian → Koschei + human lands/Autumn/Day, Lucien working through his own grief for Jesminda that he stills carries, Lucien’s parentage and realizing he isn’t actually alone, trying to break Vassa’s curse
Elain/Azriel/Mor/Nuala/Cerridwen + their wraith/spy network → Vallahan and finding the Made object, Elain discovering who she is outside everyone’s expectations, Azriel confronting his self-loathing + finally resolving 500 years of history with Mor, and Elriel figuring out what they actually want from each other
It feels almost like nostalgia bait tbh, putting everyone back with the people who helped them become who they are for the emotional middle movements, before bringing the sisters, brothers, Valkyries, etc. all back together for Movement IV. I also feel like it’s then obviously priming Elain and Azriel for their own story to finally be told.
I absolutely think Elain/Azriel’s healing and romantic arcs will be intertwined with them learning that light and darkness can coexist within the same person, and loving each other not despite those contradictions, but as whole people. I do believe they are endgame after reading what is part one of a massive singular story told across three volumes.

“this story felt different in so many ways from any i’ve written before” and y’all still believe she’s going to recycle the same fated mates storyline she’s already given to feyre and nesta

SJM greatly underestimated how illiterate her fandom is when she decided to separate this story into 3 books

“physical intimacy but no emotional intimacy” they’ve spent 4 books noticing each other, showing up for each other exchanging thoughtful gifts and building a quiet connection emotional intimacy isn’t just confessions and inner monologues some of you need to reread elriel’s SCENES
