ALT May we raise children who love the unloved things—the dandelion, worms and spiderlings. Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards sun… And when they’re grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the ones. —Nicolette Sowder

Just look at those lovely ears! This Rabbit was recently brought in after being caught by a dog. Our triage nurse carefully cleaned the wounds, administered pain relief & started antibiotics to prevent infection & we are hopeful she will go on to make a full recovery.

Dating back to the Middle Jurassic Period (around 166 million years ago), the trackways form part of a huge ‘dinosaur highway’ and include footprints from the 9 metre ferocious predator Megalosaurus, & herbivorous dinosaurs up to twice that size.

❗️EXCLUSIVE: We’ve just captured this astonishing drone footage of the breached Bridgewater Canal in Dunham Massey.
It shows the damage suffered by the canal in last night’s flooding and the extent to which it has leaked into the neighbouring fields.

I express my grateful appreciation to all those in the many areas of conflict who work for dialogue and negotiations. Let us pray that the fighting will cease on every front, and that there will be a decisive effort for peace and reconciliation.

'Ring Out Wild Bells' by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Happy New Year.
'Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light:
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring out the grief that saps the mind
For those that here we see no more;
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.
Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.
Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes
But ring the fuller minstrel in.
Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.
Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.
Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.'
