I’ll never forget when my cousin from Nigeria moved to America and somebody told me they were bullying her. she was just shy and timid, and they would tell her to “speak english” any time she spoke. I would bust her in her class and say, “BITCH TALK TO ME, I SPEAK ENGLISH” and I never got in trouble because they knew if they called my mom she would come and do worse. they never messed with her again.

As a parent, I am heartbroken for the father.
My baby is Black, and American, but she also has Nigerian roots. Do I have to worry about her being ostracized, and bullied because she speaks multiple languages, and is Dark complexion?
Like what happened to parents teaching their children about TOLERANCE, KINDNESS, INCLUSION… children can go out into the world and be lead astray to fit in, but it’s our job as parents to do our due diligence on our kids friend circles, to see how they view the world and other people that don’t look like them or speak their language.
