I'm proactively declaring a state of emergency in Ohio due to the damaging and dangerous conditions Winter Storm Fern is expected to bring to our state this weekend. I continue to encourage everyone to stay home unless it's absolutely necessary to be out. 🔗 bit.ly/4ac1nWB

“It was a pleasure to hear of you - far greater to hear of you as walking in the ways of God, and in the sunshine of His love. Go on and prosper. There is a world of unknown happiness before you - all centering in one point, Christ. Knowing, trusting, loving, serving Him here; looking to be with Him, and like Him, forever.” Charles Bridges in a letter to a friend, July 21, 1840.

Something changed in American history when men transitioned from wanting a study/library to wanting a “man cave” where he can sit and be entertained.
My parents’ house is almost entirely filled with books and journals and magazines. I will forever be in awe of my dad’s lifelong commitment to the written word—his notion of a kind of transformative intergenerational wealth.

I’m 66 pages into this book. You don’t have to agree with Haidt’s conclusions or recommendations to realize the overwhelming data showing that it’s really naive & foolish to give kids smart phones with social media apps while their brains are still developing (before age 16+).

The hymn, "What Child Is This" invokes the irony to one another that a sleeping child is yet the King. Like the disciples asked in awe after Jesus rebuked the town "What sort of man is this?", we too come with reverent awe to worship the Word made flesh.

The hymn, "Good Christian Men, Rejoice" invokes our entire being in celebrating our Savior's birth. As we address one another, we declare the gospel and rejoice.
