Excited to announce the release of our open-source protein family language model, ProFam-1, designed to generate functional protein variants and predict fitness using in-context example sequences. 1/n

Ok let’s go @adaptyvbio binder design competition: this time designing proteins to neutralise the Nipah virus. Lots of great de novo ML binder design tools out there now, but this year I’m submitting an entry from TEAM HUMAN, seeing if pure rational design can win against the machines.

Huge thanks to @DrAlexanderShaw and @magnetokrishio for making this project possible!
Our in-silico restoration analysis suggests that coordinated changes across multiple receptor systems - rather than isolated alterations - may help remediate altered neural activity and align it more closely with healthy patterns.
Using MEG data and dynamic causal modeling, we investigated synaptic alterations in thalamo-cortical circuits in schizophrenia.

🧠 Our new paper Restoring Synaptic Balance in Schizophrenia: Insights From a Thalamo-Cortical Conductance-Based Model is now published in Schizophrenia Bulletin.
We’re now busily back-translating to mice to test these predictions alongside some drugs that might help. 🐁
In-silico pharmacological modelling suggests increasing NMDA receptor gain as a potential therapeutic target, implying NMDA receptor hypofunction as a key driver of sleep alterations in these high-risk individuals.
We combine sleep EEG (recorded in the comfort of people’s homes) with Dynamic Causal Modeling to flag mechanisms of synaptic pathology in young people at risk of psychiatric disorders.

Testing an Active Inference agent in a 3D drone navigation task — it infers its own position and velocity from noisy observations, and selects actions by rolling out belief-based trajectories and minimizing expected free energy.
