Lithuania’s Tatars are the best example that Europeans and non-Europeans do not mix culturally. They are a model minority: loyal to Lithuania for 600 years and fluent in Lithuanian. Yet they never assimilated. Other groups, such as Scots and Belarusians merged into the majority so completely that you can now trace them only genetically as outliers. The Tatars integrated, learning the language and adopting parts of the local culture, but they kept their religion, their food, and until recently their dress. Even that last change owes more to globalisation than to integration. Six centuries is enough time for any group that was going to assimilate. If the best case, a loyal and well-behaved minority, still ended in integration without assimilation, there is no chance for Muslim immigrants in Europe however long we wait, remigration is the only option
