In a beta version of Ocarina of Time, the Master Craftsman's son was meant to run a shop in Kakariko Village selling "kawaii hiyoko", meaning "cute chicks". These little Cuccos are still present in the final game's files. They're round and blue, and very cute indeed!

Further evidence that Lake Hylia might be accessible directly from Hyrule Field without a loading screen. Also, first look at the scarecrows, Bonooru and Pierre!

Did you know that, in the original Ocarina of Time, Link can break free from Morpha's grab? You have to press A or B at least 40 times. I wonder how this is going to work in the remake.

Lake Hylia is visible in the distance from Hyrule Field. Is it reachable in real time with no loading screen transition?

In the original Ocarina of Time, Bongo Bongo's crushing attack doesn't make Link bounce off the drum; they fixed this in the remake.

Clarification for people who missed the point: I'm specifically referring to Bongo Bongo's "crushing attack", which does NOT cause Link to bounce on either N64 or 3DS. Of course the standard bouncing works on every version of the game: it's the core mechanic of the boss fight!

In the final version of Ocarina of Time, Skulltulas swing when hit, but in early beta versions they spun instead. So, the remake is actually bringing back a beta mechanic that was originally scrapped.

What if Ocarina of Time had Resident Evil-style fixed camera angles?

I've only just noticed the Running Man in the background lol. He's wearing the Bunny Hood and leaving a trail of dust behind him just like in the original Ocarina of Time.

In the Ocarina of Time Remake, the carpets in the two Twisted Hallways are red or blue depending on the color of the Poe Sister in that area (Joelle is red, Beth is blue). In the original game, both carpets were red. Nice attention to detail!

The giant skull jars in Ocarina of Time have complex 3D models; instead of shattering into little versions of themselves like other breakable objects do, they explode into roughly 50 small pyramid-shaped fragments.

Let's hope for a transformative remake of Ocarina of Time, but it's more likely gonna be along the lines of the Star Fox remake. A Zelda Dungeon Maker to celebrate Zelda's 40th Anniversary, just like Super Mario Maker did for Mario's 30th, would also be nice.
Join us next week for two #NintendoDirect presentations! 飪楾he Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on Sept 8 at 7am PT (Approx 30 mins) 飪楴intendo Direct on Sept 9 at 7am PT (Approx 45 mins) Watch both here: ninten.do/6019aVw0v

In Ocarina of Time, breakable things shattering into smaller versions of themselves is a general rule that's valid for most objects; for instance, it even applies to the falling platform inside the Deku Tree!

Just like the shattered Rupees in the shooting gallery, the tiny fragments of the Poes' shattered lanterns are lanterns themselves.

The caption for the Coelacanth picture in Encarta 97 reads "Dorling Kindersley". On page 61 of the book "Fossil" (published by Dorling Kindersley) there's the original high-quality version; it would be pretty cool if Nintendo used it for the Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.
Nintendo probably used Microsoft Encarta 97 for Ocarina of Time. The picture on the wall inside Impa's house is pretty much identical to the image of the coelacanth fossil under the entry for "fish" in Encarta 97.
