A significant transgender advocate and frequent face at the NY statehouse has died: Cecilia Gentili.

More migrants coming to the U.S. have turned to New York’s land border with Canada. For smugglers in the region, that's proved a lucrative business opportunity.
For the @timesunion, I investigated the rise of human smuggling in New York’s rural north.

Been working on a fun piece recently!
🧶 A county councilor in Wales was reprimanded for knitting during a virtual meeting. But she and other knitters say it helps keep them more focused and attentive — and experts agree.

Hallelujah! It only took 2 months of me calling IT every week to finally reach the right person who’d give me permanent admin access on my new work computer so I can stop bugging them every time I need to update my non-standard software which is frequent.

Really proud of my latest for the @nytimes: Black equestrians with natural hair struggle to find helmets that fit. It’s a huge barrier for inclusivity but also dangerous —horseback riding is one of the leading causes of sports-related TBIs. nytimes.com/2023/03/03/sport…
Dear Slack, making user IDs inconsistent lengths (9 or 11 characters) and starting them all with U while also including U as a character that can be used multiple times in one ID is really frustrating for this novice coder.
As a former union member, solidarity. But real question ...
Aren't those Mickey feet? (Disney owns ABC, not NBC Universal.)
I'm walking off the job with over 200 of my @nbcnewsguild colleagues today ✊
@NBCNews has treated us with disrespect, broken the law and refused to negotiate in good faith.
We love our jobs and want to get back to work, but not without basic protections and a fair contract.
My (old) Echo Show ALWAYS reverts to showing me promotional slides for features and things I don't want, despite making sure I uncheck EVERYTHING in settings. I just want it to show me the time, my calendar, and handle my lights.
I used GoHoller.ai to collect feedback after class yesterday with a simple 1-question survey. Using a QR code, I asked students to answer the question at the end of class. 1/2 the class responded, then AI provided insights.

How to have a successful and sustained career in journalism
ALT A photo of a pigeon walking on snow. Her little saguaro cactus-shaped foot imprints are seen all over in winding paths on the snowy ground in this bird’s eye view (heh). She does not know where she is going, but she’s having a good time. Staying in her lane. Thriving.
Yeah, right? I will poll my students on their music tastes today to take their temperatures.

I'm curious for folks in similar roles (digital editors, newsroom product folks) what apps you use on the regular.
I'm laying the groundwork so IT will grant me that sweet, sweet admin access to my new work MacBook Pro, so I made them a list of every app I use ...
