It’s a rollercoaster, and just as exhilarating as the real thing. I’m finally enjoying life again after thinking there was no future for a very long time. Anyway, hope to see you soon
I picked this up in a charity shop. It’s a great read for those of us of a certain age. Highly recommended!
I’m trying to get back to cooking again after a year of ready meals and pub food. Paella is first up.
Cycled into work for the first time from Eastleigh. Got a bit of fire in the thigh muscles at some points. Tried not to use the battery much. Now I need to get access to the bike sheds - it’s a very expensive bike!
Just doing the Trago Lounge pub quiz with @skemp_esd. I think we’re doing ok at the half time interval.
Doing some hands on microscale chemistry for primary school pupils at #safeconf23 @SFEd_RSC @CLEAPSS
This is what I typically see from Year 12 this year, albeit with fewer 'activists' (particularly compared with a couple of years ago). The number of skeptics and 'deniers' is low, in many cases non-existent.
At the O2 Academy to see the Inspiral Carpets! In my defence, there’s a 12 year old here wearing a Carpets T-shirt - still relevant in the 2020s!
Just doing a pub quiz with @ChemiSteve and @olhughes . I think we’re got a good chance!
It’s that time of year again. Time to dust off the lab coat and make a fresh batch of PVA solution in time for Science and Engineering Day #SOTSEF. @ChemMinion @ChemField @DrSimonGerrard
Just had a lovely evening with my ‘academic offspring’ @ChemField. I’m absolutely delighted that here it’s returning to @unisouthampton as Head of Public Engagement. I feel like a proud dad!
Delighted to welcome Dr Roy Lowry from the University of Plymouth for the 2023 RSC Mid-Southern Counties Local Section Family Lecture.
What a great photo. What a difference a smile makes. This makes me feel almost as happy as Reagan's handshake with Gorbachev at Reykjavik in 1986. Maybe the outlook for world peace isn't so gloomy after all...
I'm talking about cracking tomorrow, so I thought it was a good idea to dig out the monster model kit for the first time since Covid!
Look what happened to my bike at Southampton Airport Parkway. What use are handlebars and worn out brakes to anyone? What poses these people? Says a lot about the UK in 2022!
Congratulations to @olhughes who graduates today with 1st Class (Hons) in Chemistry. Seems like a long time since you joined us on the Science Foundation Year! Thanks for all your support with projects and demonstrating over the years.
