My first successful exoplanet detection! You can see a clear 2% dip in the light curve of HAT-P-36b around the expected time of the transit. I'm pretty astonished you can see a planet 1000 light years away with back garden telescope in a light polluted area.
One of the closest supernovae in recent years has been discovered. SN 2026ahvu is a Type Ia in the barred spiral galaxy NGC 1433 located at ~10 Mpc

Replying to @OpenAI
In an alternate universe, OpenAI would have identified the leading researchers in each of these fields and carefully shared the results with each of them to explore whether it was insightful / useful / worthy of publishing (in most cases obviously it is) and ultimately coauthoring papers with them to further mathematical understanding that combine these results with human context. Now that would have been a PR win

Navier-Stokes Millennium saga continues. Here are my slides and a summary from a recent talk. Disclaimer: this is a physicists view of the problem & solution! 🧵
Can you reverse the rotation of this axial stretched vortex tube?

We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics.
The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra.
The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.
All these Navier-Stokes tweets are bringing me back the dark days of second year fluid dynamics with equal lack of understanding of what I’m reading
Spot the difference…. This is the galaxy NGC 7331. Image on the left is by Adam Block in 2009. Image on the right was taken by me this morning. Can anyone see what’s new?
SN 2026aaiv: New Type Ia supernova in the nearby (14 Mpc) galaxy NGC 7331 discovered this week. Interestingly this is the 2nd Type Ia explosion in NGC 7331 in the past 12 months and the 4th SN to be discovered in this galaxy since 2013 making this an excellent host for recent transient research

Mathematicians in 2027
Today, we share a breakthrough on the planar unit distance problem, a famous open question first posed by Paul Erdős in 1946.
For nearly 80 years, mathematicians believed the best possible solutions looked roughly like square grids.
An OpenAI model has now disproved that belief, discovering an entirely new family of constructions that performs better.
This marks the first time AI has autonomously solved a prominent open problem central to a field of mathematics.
