🦀 My "inheriting thread locals" aka "thread spawn hook" feature has been merged into Rust as an unstable feature! You can use it to automatically copy thread local state into new threads, which wasn't possible before. Available on Rustc nightly tomorrow!

![#![feature(thread_spawn_hook)]
thread_local! {
static MY_THREAD_LOCAL: Cell<u32> = Cell::new(0);
}
std::thread::add_spawn_hook(|_| {
// Get the value of the thread local in the spawning thread.
let value = MY_THREAD_LOCAL.get();
// Set the value of the thread local in the newly spawned thread.
move || MY_THREAD_LOCAL.set(value)
});
MY_THREAD_LOCAL.set(123);
std::thread::spawn(|| {
// Automatically set to the value from the parent thread!
assert_eq!(MY_THREAD_LOCAL.get(), 123);
});](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Gc00P9GXwAAzPIn.jpg?name=small&format=webp)
