I also made a plugin playground codedmachines.com/playground…. See the `filtre` and `french touch` plugins. Eventually, I'll release the emulator, but it's still rough.
Made a French House song on my sampler: codedmachines.com/log/2026/1…, using two custom plugins based on vintage hardware used by Daft Punk.
One the frustrating parts of working with hardware is the number things gated by groups charging ridiculous amounts. Today’s example: you need to become a member of the USB forum to get a vendor ID: usb.org/getting-vendor-id. Cost? 6k/yr!!
If you'd told me a year ago I'd be creating custom PCBs and casting silicone, I'd have called you crazy 😄

XO Ruby is this weekend! Get your ticket if you’re in Montreal and come say hello 😄 xoruby.com/event/montreal/. I’ll be presenting my journey to using ai for building hardware.
Now w/ a high precision rotary encoder, and quality cross-fader, I can scratch on my sampler! Demo at => codedmachines.com/. Ordering the 1st custom PCB this week, oh and... got accepted at NAMM.
Some nasty 808 made from scratch (from oscillators + FX) on the device this week: codedmachines.com/log/2026/0….
And, I discovered Memory LCDs. Oh my!! It's like eink but with a decent frame rate. Ordered a bigger one w/ frontlights 😎
Say hello to Coded Machines, my new adventure, with the unashamed goal of building the best sampler in the world.
Weekly photos from the bench, and the first full song it played: codedmachines.com

It was a great honour to give this presentation with Josh and Marc: youtube.com/watch?v=NMruXY3T…
I'll be presenting at xoruby.com/event/montreal-2/ October 17th, in Montreal!
Got tired of using herdr on my phone, so I built an eink device for it. So much nicer to read! Pink button is push-to-talk. I think I might not need a laptop anymore 😂
Built my first hardware instrument in 3 days last week.
It's Orbit — a 4-track stereo looper with tempo-locked everything, live effects, and a screen that animates with the sound. 🧵
Already deep into V2: bigger/sharper screen, a real enclosure, better knobs and buttons, more tracks...
Follow along on macournoyer.com/looper or here.
And, LMK what you think!
