Tanzania has secured a USD 1.2B commercial financing facility for the 411km Tabora–Kigoma section of its Standard Gauge Railway, backed by an African Development Bank partial credit guarantee of up to USD 800M, its largest to date.
The facility, arranged through a nine-bank syndicate including Deutsche Bank, Société Générale, HSBC, Nedbank and Stanbic Bank Tanzania, forms part of a broader USD 2.3B financing package aimed at expanding Tanzania's railway network and strengthening regional trade links with the DRC and Burundi.
