This is my game of the year. Genuinely made me enjoy arcade racing like I was a kid again!

5) You don't need fancy plugins to control compression, eq, or any other effects. At most what I can recommend is Melodyne Essential if you are working with vocals, but be persistent in keeping everything "in key" when tracking vocals and you will be fine.
4) Piano and keys are underrated, especially pad synths. They create what I call "glue" in a mix and help give it body alongside bass guitars and other low-mid frequencies. Panning keys is also a super good thing to do if you can because it fills out the spectrum better.
3) Vocals are a pain in the butt if you already hate your voice. To make it easier just imagine it's a cartoon character singing and that makes it a lot easier to be objective when mixing them.
Some takeaways from what I've been working on for the Filmmakers of VR Chat Music Video Film Jam:
1) Be careful forgetting about bass guitars. They add a surprising amount of punch to the chord progression and neglecting them can give you a hollow feeling.
I don't know where else to say this. I'm kind of just talking to the void just for the sake of getting it off of my chest but:
It's gotten to the point now where I'm so used to the mask I've created for myself that I'm afraid to take it off in any way, shape, or form
Anyways on another note about out to Niijikana for giving me some kind of creative drive and purpose to help somewhat manage these feelings and thoughts
NGL mixing rock music is harder than I thought
I want stuff to sound full but you crank a frequency too hard and it sounds like mud
My takeaway is just do it more to find what works best (also use multiple types of speakers to determine what sticks out the most)
