Democrats made so much history this week, but here's why @KeishaBottoms' victory in particular gave me goosebumps.

There is much to celebrate this week, but I want to call specific attention to historic gains Democratic women made in representation: - For the first time in history, over 100 Democratic women will serve in the U.S. House. - At least 16 Democratic women will serve in the Senate. - At least 14 Democratic women will serve as governors, a record high. - A record of 2,600 Democratic women running for seats in state legislatures helped flip 12 majorities and break 11 supermajorities. - Four states elected their first woman governor: Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, and Tennessee. - @KeishaBottoms will be the first Black woman to serve as a governor. - @DebHaalandNM will be the first Native American woman to serve as a governor. - @GinaHinojosaTX will be the first Latina to serve as governor of Texas. - @peggyflanagan will be the first Native American woman to serve in the Senate. I am beyond excited to see these extraordinary people and public servants tackle accountability, affordability, and our other challenges to make life better for everyone in this country. Congratulations to everyone who ran: win or lose, fighting for what's right is always worth it.

Gallego: We actually had to call up some of our friends that we put up as sacrificial lambs and tell them that they won. And one of them remarked, what are you talking about, that was not the plan. Well, it is now.

We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026). arkolith.com/news/news-micr… therepublic.com/?p=843020 governor.ny.gov/news/safer-str…

Imagine you are at your kid’s baseball game and your grandparents came to cheer for their great-grandchildren, then your dementia ridden grandpa said this loud enough for all in the stands to hear. How quickly do you try to do damage control?
Trump: I have two beautiful sisters. One was a federal judge, top federal judge. The other is beautiful but I never had an interest in dating her.

The Senate race between Jon Ossoff and Mike Collins gives us good material to illustrate two common problems with men's trousers, which most people miss when shopping. Let me show you. 🧵

He signed the lightsaber when they were done! My son was thrilled! I couldn’t believe Jon was willing to lightsaber battle an 11 year old in the Georgia heat. Jon does what’s best for the people because he takes the time to know them.
