The Caliphate, Drop by Drop By @LePoint There is, in Islamism, a hatred of anteriority. Whatever dared to exist before the Muhammadan revelation has no right to a place, and this even has a name: jahiliyya, "the age of ignorance," a void that must be concealed at all costs. Ahmed al-Sharaa's Syria is now demonstrating this methodically. In the new school textbooks, the statues of Mari, a royal city-state on the Euphrates nearly five millennia old, have disappeared, and the tambourine player of Ugarit has been erased too. Ugarit is the port near Latakia where, in the 14th century BC, scribes invented one of humanity's very first alphabets. The neck and chin of Elissa, the Phoenician who founded Carthage, are now veiled. Zenobia, the queen of Palmyra who defied Rome in the 3rd century, nearly slipped into limbo, but the Syrians protested and she returned, drastically shortened but back. The Mona Lisa, by contrast, no longer exists at all for Syrian students. Islamism is not a religious nationalism but a destructive internationalism. It knows neither borders, nor languages, nor peoples, nor ethnicities, and recognizes only the umma and its horizon, the caliphate. The Syrian textbooks admit it without retouching: “the pride of Arab nationalism” has become “the pride of Islamic civilization,” just as “dying for the homeland” has turned into “dying for Allah.” Kurds, Turkmens, Shiites, Druze, Christians and Jews have evaporated from Syria’s long history, and the Ottoman occupation is no longer more than a “domination,” a tender memory of the last caliphate, which was nevertheless only a brutal colonization and a calvary for the dominated peoples, among them precisely the Syrians. Even the Great Arab Revolt of 1916, a Syrian source of pride, is no longer taught. It is no longer only Bashar al-Assad who is being erased, but Syria, in its beautiful singularity, that is systematically being rubbed out. Continue reading at: lepoint.fr/editos-du-point/l…

This is absolutely shameful. For generations Ustad Bismillah Khan was whom we saw on TV for national holidays. Now the same nation turns around and bulldozes his house and intimidates his family.
This is the house of Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan Sahib, whose shehnai tunes made whole world sway. See how demolition is going on in house @varanasipolice is entering house & intimidating/threatening. Hello Mr. @narendramodi, aren’t you ashamed?

Tens of thousands of garment workers on strike in Bangladesh demanding a doubling of the minimum wage as inflation destroys purchasing power 2 years after Hasina's overthrow, nothing fundamentally has changed for the working masses as capitalism remains.

The parents of Oleksii, a 14-year-old boy beaten at an alleged secret Azov detention facility near Kyiv — where mobilized men and military deserters were allegedly held and tortured — have now been added to the notorious Myrotvorets hit list, with their personal information published for all to see. Because apparently, having your child beaten isn't punishment enough. Why not put the entire family's safety at risk while you're at it? They are accused of “failure to fulfill parental responsibilities for the care and upbringing of minor children, resulting in serious consequences.” Now, naturally, I assume Ursula von der Leyen will be issuing an urgent statement today, expressing her profound outrage over these human rights violations in Ukraine. Surely, she'll immediately put the brakes on the $115 billion Zelensky is asking for. After all, you can't possibly keep handing over European taxpayers' money to a country where people are tortured, children are beaten, and families who speak out find themselves exposed on a “kill list.” That would be a little awkward for the whole “defending European values, freedom, and democracy” narrative, wouldn't it?

A 14-year-old boy who was beaten in a secret Azov prison near Kyiv has been added to the Myrotvorets hit list. No, not his abusers — the boy himself. He is accused of: 📌“Actions aimed at undermining Ukraine’s defense capabilities and disrupting mobilization efforts in the interests of the Russian fascist invaders.” 📌“Incitement to attacks against Ukrainian military personnel.” 📌“Attacking Ukrainian military personnel with the aim of inflicting bodily harm and destroying military property.” 📌“Obstructing the lawful activities of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” If I were his mother, I would take my child out of this fascist country, leave for somewhere else, and immediately seek political asylum to save Oleksii’s life. Zelenskyy’s regime is a criminal mafia, propped up by Azov militants armed to the teeth with NATO’s latest high-tech military toys. Slava Ukraini?!

The 14 year old boy that Ukrainian and western infowarriors are saying is a 'paid actor' gave his first statement from hospital. First, he shows his cut-up fingers. Then, trying hard to speak Ukrainian, he describes what happened after Azovites guarding their torture dungeon pushed him in with a shovel. He says he was dragged deep into the building by 10 masked men in black without chevrons. They beat and kicked him, dragging him by the hair, while continuing to hit him with a shovel. Then they interrogated him with his face down on the ground but he couldn't hear anything because they beat his head so much. Then they picked him up by the hair and threw him into the wall. Then they beat him some more, breaking some of his teeth and leaving him with a bloody nose. He couldn't see anything and was convinced that when Budanov came, they were going to torture him to death

Guy basically writes an extremely long thread excusing torture facilities in Ukraine and then closes out with a donation request for Ukrainian state propaganda. No shame for what occurred. Dismissing it as the possibility most of it was likely Russian rabble-rousing...disgusting.

Doesn’t sound so existential if you have to force your countrymen to fight through torture, intimidation and kidnappings
Replying to @francisjfarrell
None of that is new, or should be a surprise, that is the reality of a country waging an existential war, but the circumstances under which it occurs is a source of tension, and the failure of the state to grapple with mobilisation reform exacerbates it every step of the way.

Orwellian: Security Service of Ukraine identified nearly 100 people who tried to free tortured detainees from illegal secret prison of neo-Nazi led Azov corps near Kyiv & plans to arrest them. Female medic is already arrested. None of those, who illegally imprisoned & tortured deserters, faces arrest. "The Security Service of Ukraine has identified nearly a hundred people who actively participated in the events in the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, Buchansky district, Kyiv region. The issue of detaining certain individuals, in addition to the already detained woman, is being resolved. The purpose of the riots was to free one of the men, who had left the unit without permission, but was later detained. "About 100 people who actively participated have been identified and located... The issue of detention is being resolved," said Ivan Rudnytsky, Deputy Head of the SBU, at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday."
Head of Zelensky office of president admits that there are many such illegal secret prisons in Ukraine after arriving to secret prison of neo-Nazi-led Azov corps of National Guard of Ukraine to quell protests. Deserters were illegally imprisoned & tortured in this secret Azov prison near Kyiv.

Videos show that Ukrainian deserters were illegally imprisoned & tortured in secret prison of neo-Nazi-led Azov corps of National Guard of Ukraine near Kyiv. Several prisoners were reportedly killed. Azov is glorified & whitewashed by Umland, Shekhovtsov & Western media & politicians. Relatives of imprisoned attempted to storm prison.

One important development in last night’s events around the illegal Azov prison for deserters and draft dodgers, which also served to extort ransoms and provoked a massive riot on Kiev’s outskirts, is the use of Azov paramilitaries to suppress the protesters. Researchers like @kooleksiy predicted long ago that they would be used against anti-conscription riots. This adds a new, characteristically fascist nuance to the events. Otherwise, the events manifest the same escalating dynamics of post-Soviet disintegration in Ukraine’s state and society, to which the maidan deficient revolutions greatly contributed and which the war did not resolve but only escalated. One amusing feature is the use of Russian by almost everyone involved: Budanov, the head of the presidential administration, police, soldiers, protesters from the neighborhood. In such situations, the veil of superficial Ukrainianization falls away and people return to the Russian-speaking norm of post-Soviet Kiev, in which Ukrainian was really expected only in official settings, some education, and narrow “civil society” contexts.

The cyberattack being carried out by Congress and Muslim League cadres against SFI activist Nafisathul Misriya for raising questions to the Higher Education Minister at Maharaja's College, along with the police's politically motivated action against students by implicating them in cases, is deeply undemocratic and inhumane. The Higher Education Minister of Kerala remained silent when an RSS nominee was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, when RSS sympathisers were packed into its Senate and Syndicate, and when 32 RSS members were appointed to Calicut University's Boards of Studies. Students questioned the Minister's allegiance to the Sangh Parivar, especially since he is also the local MLA who facilitated the current Vice-Chancellor of Kalady University's anti-student actions, appointed on the recommendation of the former Governor. Such attempts to intimidate students will be strongly resisted. Com. Pinarayi Vijayan Leader of the Opposition
